It's too bad we don't have someone comparable to Brown that we could call up. Although Orr will either have to play or go on IR if Brown is out for Wednesday. That or play 7 D

Can't they call up Devane? Or is he not on an entry level deal yet?

I am pumped for this game to. Should be a couple scraps. I want to see Mclaren go again after he did good against Scott.

Also it sounds like Reimer is pretty close to being back. Hopefully he gets back to playing like he was before the injury

They can call him up if they wanted too but I don't really see the point. Most middleweights would turn him down because of his size and Orr, McLaren and Fraser are more than enough to handle any team's best fighters. Plus he has barely even been playing in the AHL, hard to imagine he would be ready to play even limited minutes in the NHL.

Devane has had quite a season though. According to DYG he has 5 TKO wins in 7 fights this season.

SOrry for jumping into your thread. But correct me if im wrong. Didn't Mike Brown used to suck at fighting. I don't remember him being so dominating. I thought I remembered him losing, drawing or falling a lot in a bunch of crappy fights. He seems to have turned up his game to a whole new level and is really bringing the fights this year. I like it. Maybe him and Prust tonight. Maybe the first time Prust gets dropped?!?!

Yes Brown used to be one of the worst and most boring fighters in the league with Anaheim, then Orr started giving him lessons during Leaf practices.

Basically what grits said. He is on an entry level deal but Eakins is being a twat and relying on his guys from last year as opposed to actually giving him a shot. He's fought, scored and played well when he's been in but I think Eakins is doing more harm than good with a lot of these young guys. Too much focus on a long playoff run as opposed to actually developing young guys.

And he'd get declined too. He is looking like he has the makings of being a dominant heavy, again it's tough because Eakins always sits him against teams that carry HWs. It'd be nice if someone like Carrick was further along or if Ashton was more active. Ah well, it's not a bad problem to have when you're talking about an injury replacement to one of your 4 fighters..

I think it's all been in his balance. He used to be Mayers 2.0 but he stays on his feet and if he does fall he's back up and throwing. Uses both hands and switches on a dime not to mention he's throwing bombs

That's what I noticed too. He used to have the worst balance and all fights sucked. But not his balance seems better and to me he looks like a put on a few more pounds too. But like you said, when he throws theres some feeling behind it and when he falls he pops right back up and keeps throwing them. That's what I call fighting for your job. He is a guy who gets it. Unlike a lot of others who fail to fight for there jobs and end up losing them to another puss Euro

Brown was actually pretty good early in his career when he was in the Canucks system and fought pretty similar to the way he does now. For whatever reason his balance issues got worse in Anaheim and he seemed to lose confidence in his hands. Even in his first season with the Leafs he fought like a Jamal Mayers clone.

That penalty wasn't even deserving of 2 minutes, let alone 5 + 10.
He didn't hit him in the numbers, he basically got 2 mins for being stronger than the guy.

That was deserving of 2 minutes at the most.

On the lunch show (TSN Radio) they insisted that having Orr on the ice for 15 min is partially contributing to the Leafs loss... wow.
