Deal enables Sharks to up the toughness
Purdy: Deal enables Sharks to up the toughness
Quote:
Tuesday night at HP Pavilion, the Sharks looked tired, cranky and out of sorts in an ugly 4-1 loss to Dallas.
Wednesday, after little sleep, General Manager Doug Wilson reported to his desk around 4 a.m. and began working the phones. He made a few moves before the NHL's noon trade deadline.
Most significantly, Wilson acquired Anaheim wing Travis Moen (best described as sandpaper on skates) and Anaheim defenseman Kent Huskins (best described as a bruise on the blue line).
Was the timing a coincidence? After the deal was announced, one media person (OK, it was me) suggested to Wilson that it would have been nice to have Moen and Huskins around for the chippy game against Dallas.
"Yes," Wilson replied, succinctly.
