There are only 2 moves I want the Pens to make - dump Martin and sign Oshie. If they do that, I'll be satisfied. Getting more balance on the top 2 lines and having a legitimate checking line will work wonders for them. It's also time to get Despres up here full-time. He will not get anything more out of playing in the minors. And if they can get Morrow on the roster, that would be great too, but I'd rather them re-sign Niskanen and let Morrow dominate juniors for another season. If they decide to trade Staal, they had better get a nice return for him. A top-5 pick in this year's draft would be awesome.

I'd also like to see them go after Tootoo as well.

If the Penguins are forced to trade Staal they should package any deal involving Staal with Martin just to get the needed cap space...I been seeing alot of trade scenerios involving Staal and many look like a very good return

The thing is those returns are all dream land returns. They haven't even had discussions as far as moving Staal yet, the Pens haven't even layed out their off season plans yet. I think all of us want to move Staal because of where his value is, but at the end of the day Shero has to sack up and pull the trigger.

The other thing is you must realize if they get a top 10 pick for him they better take it and run. They are not going to get a bonafide superstar or even star in return. It's going to be prospects and picks. I couldn't imagine the Canes wanting to move Faulk or Skinner for Staal. I do see Carolina as the only legit option, the darkhorse place would be Colombus.

My dream scenario would be for the Pens to trade Staal and Martin and some combo of prospect/picks and get Nash in return from the Jackets.Trade Kennedy/Michalek and pick(s) to St.Louis and get Stewart/Oshie and some combo back .I prefer Stewart because he's more of a physical presence.Go with lines like this.

Nash-Crosby-Stewart
Neal-Malkin-Kunitz
Cooke-Vitale-Dupuis
Tangradi-Jeffrey-Tootoo(signed as a UFA).

Orpik-Letang
Niskanen-Despres
Engo-Strait,Sneep,Morrow or whoever wants it bad enough.I'd like to see Morrow get a legit chance, and if he's the best. Then play him.

Like I said. It's just me talking and throwing names around. But if something like this could happen.I'd like the Pens team..

The Blues are trying to get rid of some salary so a guy like Stewart could be had for TK and a couple picks. Oshie would be tougher and a better add IMO. Oshie has a more complete set at this point, Stewart tends to wander off at times and zone out of the game from time to time.

The Pens most pressing need is figuring out what to do with Staal and to remake the bottom 6 minus Cooke and Vitale. I'm open to moving anyone else.

I also see Minn or Toronto in the running if Staal became available.. I can see Burke overpaying for Staal .. I love the idea of getting Stewart I think he is a RFA and seemed to fall out of favor in St louis so they may not be interested in resigning him

I like ur lines but I would try to add a vet defensive minded 3rd line center then let Jeffrey/Vitale battle for the 4th line center spot.. I dont think the lines are that far fetched even if they cant get Nash I think they can get a top winger especially after dumping Martin/Staal salary which is around 9 million add Michalek and Kennedy into it and ur up to 15 million

They will not dump both Martin and Michalek. One of them will be kept, and I hope it's Michalek. They can get that veteran 3rd line center in a trade for Kennedy, and of course Martin being dumped opens the door to keeping Staal here long-term...though I would still try to deal him. They will get a mint for him, whether it's the Canes, Leafs, Oilers or Wild.

Maybe the Habs are dumb enough to take Martin, after all they took Gomez.

I really can't imagine the Leafs being in the running unless they offer Kessel. Minnesota I can see because of the connection to the Pens but unless its Charlie Coyle I will pass.

The problem is there are very few teams that need him AND can afford to resign him AND give up a top talent for him. I think the return wouldn't be an NHL player unless its to even salaries for the cap. Its going to be an awesome NHL prospect or a top pick in the draft. Makes it easier for both teams to digest the trade.

They also over paid Cammy, Gionta, and Cole. Although Cole played suprisingly well.

Most of what I read was that if Toronto jumped into the running it would center around Kadri, Schenn and a pick.. The problem with Staal is whoever trades for him this year there is no guarantee that he will sign long term with that team so I dont know how much a team will want to give up by taking a chance he will walk after 1 year

I would not want any part of that trade. I feel like that's what I was saying though because the team that does aquire him will have to have him resigned before they give up something big.

As said by Dreger yesterday it sounds like Staal will be signing a long term deal and the Pens are apparently looking at moving Malkin instead now. I just don't think the Pens will move any of the 3.

Why would the Penguins move Malkin? He basically dominated the entire league last year...and then fell apart with the rest of the team in the playoffs. I'd take Luke Schenn, but we don't need more d-men.
