The desperation only gets worse n ow that Semin signs with Carolina...I really don't see Doan signing here.Though I would love to have him play on a line with Crosby and Cooke. But it seems that the Pens are going to stay pat with what they have and let some young guys get their shot.Which in itself is exciting, but not with the roster built to win now...Looking on the bright side of things. If they don't sign Doan. They will be under the salary cap,and could add pieces as the season goes on.And Malkin needs a deal as well next year.So I'm just going to let things play out here in the early going.I'd really like to see Kevin Veilleux take the bull by the horns this year.Stay healthy and win a fourth line job.....

Never doubt Shero, he always has a move up his sleeve. I'm sure its going to happen, and he will find someone.

We got worse in the offseason. Loss of Staal and Sullivan who ran the PP with Tanger pretty good.

Shero + Penguins = to many stars, to many defenseman, not enough complimentary players and very little toughness. Since the cup years the Penguins have gotten worse, softer and have been out played in the playoffs. Granted they have had injuries but there was no excuse this year. Outside of a few good pickups, Shero has been out done by other GM's. They need to make changes because od the above reasons and they are too complacent and stale.

I really can't say I disagree with you all that much.Though you can never have enough stars. They do have too many defensemen. Not to say that that is a real bad thing because they needed nine because of injuries last year. That being said I'm for thinking that Shero could have or still trade one of his defensive prospects for help up front for a good complimentary player....

Let's face it..Up until that fateful night on the Isle a couple February's ago.The Pens dressed arguably the toughest team in the league with Godard,Rupp,Asham, and Engelland on the roster. They were leading the league in fights. To me Shero was painted into a corner when Mario opened his big fu*king mouth, and made himself, the organIzation, and to be honest the fanbase(because we were loving it,and letting people know it)look like a bunch of hypocrites..Shero had no choice but to soften this team up because it came from higher up...Once again..Thanks Mario!!!

It continues to be a quiet off season for Shero and the Penguins. Hopefully Shero has some tricks up his sleeve and can deal Martin away and bring in a few pieces. The Atlantic is going to be another tough divison next season skill and toughness wise. The Rangers look like the team to beat right now with Philly, Pens, and Devils not too far behind. Toughness wise we are one of the weaker teams in the divison with only Engelland and Glass. The season is still a while away thou so we got lots of time to see what happens.

That's why signing Shane Doan would be huge for this team. He will add an element of leadership and grit they haven't had since Bill Guerin retired. He would also be very motivated to win a championship before he hangs them up, which should make him even better.

Not at the rumored 4 years, $30M he's supposedly seeking.

Well no, of course not. I have no idea who offered him that much money, but it also doesn't guarantee that it's what he'll end up getting. I don't think he's worth more than $6 million a year, and even that is pushing it.

Buffalo offered him 4 yrs at $30 million. The Flyers and Bruins are rumored to have offered 4 yrs at $24 million and more likely to land him. Buffalo is a longshot.

The Pens according to the Ottawa Sun are set to offer a 4yr $24 million dollar deal to him this week when he visits.

Could care less what Doan does so long as he doesn't disappear come playoff time and we find another winger.

Very boring off season because the owners are fighting over the CBA amongst each other. Looking forward to the lockout!

As far as the Pirates it has been an awesome year really excited for them, and I am much more excited for the Frozen Four and helping out with that at the Consol. Should be an awesome experience for Pittsburgh!

It's been...eh...interesting with the Pirates this year, only because I'm still expecting them to have an epic collapse and finish below .500. Granted, it would take an even bigger one than last year at this point, but these are the Pirates we're talking about.

I'm moving to Mississippi in about a month here. I have season tickets for the Mississippi Surge though!
