Your out of your mind.

Gagne and Pitkanen's name was never thrown around in any deal pertaining to Smyth's name.

By the way check the stats between Smyth and Hanzus and they arfe very similiar.

Don't kid yourself, Smyth is definitely a better player than Handzus...

You may have taking my post the wrong way. I am not trying to say that handzus is a better player. I said the stats are very similar and throwing a name around liek Gagne in a deal would make it very one sided. Though you may think Smyth is far and away a better player, Handzus is no slouch and has been very effective for the Flyers.

He is a number 2 center, he can put up points, play on the PP, and kill penalties. Not much more you can ask for, esp. since you got him cheap.

I never said Handzus wasn't effective nor did I say he was some slouch. And I agree, throwing Gagne in a deal along with Handzus for Smyth would be overpaying. But that isn't what I was talking about. Head to head, Smyth is the better player hands down.

IMO Handzus and either a high prospect (not Carter or Richards) or a high draft pick would get it done.

Smyth's a better player, but not exponentially. Handzus trumps Smyth defensively. Smyth is more physical and slightly better offensivly, but I'd say that would be a more or less even trade, slightly in favor of the Flyers.

I think Smyth get's hyped so much because of his role with Team Canada.

I still don't agree. Offensively Smyth is much more than slightly better.

Hatcher hampered by injury

Derian Hatcher's debut with the Philadelphia Flyers may be delayed. The monstrous defenceman injured his knee during action at Team USA's Olympic orientation camp in Colorado Springs and has returned to Philadelphia for further evaluation.
Sources tell Sportsnet the Flyers expect to know the extent of the injury and Hatcher's prognosis either late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Link.

I wouldn't say he's really that much better offensively. He's a better goal scorer, but I think they are about even playmakers. Handzus is a 45-55 pt player, Smyth is a 55-65 pt player. Maybe a little more than slightly better, about half a level better.

Both Hatcher and Forsberg are expected to miss the majority of camp...

It's a big blow for the Flyers if Hatcher and Forsberg BOTH miss more than a few weeks of the season. (Although by reports that it doesn't seem to be TOO serious)

I heard from a reliable source that Foresber is still a little bang up from past injuries, but nothing to be that concerned about.

Hatcher tweaked a knee and strained a calf, his injuries are more likely to hamper his debut with the Flyers. Expect him to miss the first 5-10 games of the year.

Flyers have invited Marco Caprara to camp. He's a little guy, but a very good fighter for his size. Too small to take on heavies though, but if he makes any of the pro teams, he'll definetly scrap. His fight totals from the last 3 years were 31, 40, and 25. He had a great rivalry with Pisellini in juniors.

Wasn't Hatcher expected to miss the first 3 games from a suspension anyway????
