2012 Offseason

Let's hear some pipe dreams or reality on what this team should/could or will do.

Don't re-sign: Matt Carle or Pavel Kubina. Sign Jagr for no more than 1.5M.

Trade: JVR and/or Voraceck for Suter or Weber's(unlikely) rights. Or JVR/Voraceck

Lines: Insert a guy who is going to bang bodies, wear down, and intimidate the other team - whether it be Sestito being a lineup regular or signing Parros, Neil, Carkner, or Konopka - who can all take regular shifts.
Give Eric Wellwood and Matt Read bigger minutes and move one of them to Giroux's line.

Hopefully the cap increases significantly.

two words: SHEA WEBER

i honestly wouldnt be shocked if this happened. we are obviously in need w/ pronger out and timonen getting older. he's gonna get a boatload of $, but he's worth it to me.

untouchables: giroux, couturier, schenn, grossmann

take or leave: read, jagr

get rid of: carle, jvr, lilja

other than shea weber, i think we need more 3rd/4th line type role players. a skilled 4th line was great against the pens, but didnt do **** for us against the devils. get chris neil.

Bryzgalov: I know we are stuck with him, so I hope he works really hard this offseason and comes in next year ready to be the #1 guy. Quit talking about the universe and spaceships, just focus on hockey.

Carle/Kubina/Lilja: Let these 3 stooges take a walk.

Jagr: He was a nice story and had a much better season than most people thought he would, but down the stretch and during the playoffs he looked about 75 years old. I don't want him back.

JVR: I'm officially sick of this guy. I think it's pretty safe to call him a bust at the 2nd overall pick. He plays so damn soft for a guy his size. Seems likes everyone keeps waiting for him to "break out", but it never happens. I'd like to see him traded.

Bobrovsky: Since we are stuck with Bryz, might as well trade Bob and pick up a veteran backup goalie instead. Not sure who is available though.

Simmonds: Don't get me wrong, he had a great season. But he completely disappeared in the playoffs. Like Bryz, I hope he works hard in the offseason and adds some weight to better prepare himself for the playoff grind.

The Flyers are clearly in need of some D-men for next year. Everyone is talking about Weber & Suter, but who else would be available?

Also, do you guys think Sestito and Rinaldo will both be regulars next year? That would be my ideal 4th line with those 2 on it. And what will become of Shelley? Pretty sure he still has another year left on his deal, but I don't see him coming back. Either he retires or the Flyers will just waive him.

Go hard after either Weber or Suter, preferably Weber.
Trade JVR,maybe in a package deal w/ Read or someone else.
Resign Voracek.
Say goodbye to Carle/Lilja/Jagr/Kubina.
Waive Shelley.
Sign George Parros if you don't get Carkner.
Sign either Matt Carkner/Sheldon Brookbank/Bryan Allen,SOMEONE!!!???
for much needed D muscle. D help is my main concern overall.
I think Homer is gonna clean fockin house in this department.
I'll give Bryz one more year to find himself in the universe. I really
want to banish him to Siberia but we're stuck with this idiot for now.
I don't know, throwing ideas around but don't know the whole crop
of UFA guys etc... Still way too early but it should be interesting.

I think Bryz is fine. Yeah the goal was boneheaded but I mean, he's the only reason they weren't swept or even were in the games against the Devils.

Simmonds was fine. If anything he disapeared bc laviolette played Read and Voracek way too much. Simmonds didn't get enough ice time like he was in the regular season. It was a joke.

Sorry but you want disapearing acts: Matt Read. I can't stand him. He's soft, gets bodied and is just to me nothing more than average to slightly above average. JVR did more than him and I can't stand JVR. Read's also too small.

Voracek sucks on the power play. At least at the point anyways. He passes decently and his speed is okay but he doesn't do much after that.

Coburn became a good defensemen this year and I'm pleased with him. (Got worn down in the post season.) Timmonen is declining and getting more banged up sadly. Grossman was playing hurt...but he's good to have. Mez...season was meh. Carle sans pronger...not good. Gustaffson is Carle with a tad bit more grit. I want Manning or Bourdon playing over Lilja.

Want Jagr back, I think he was playing hurt last month or two of the year. Hartsy is hartsy as is G. Talbot and couts were awesome.

Sestito needs resigned! need a neil or carkner like guy for sure.

Found this poll on Philly.com where you can vote for every player to either stay or go, the link is too long so click on this link and then click the "stay or go" Icon on the page. Enjoy...

Very little. DO NOT RE SIGN MATT CARLE. Pick up a d-man for good money 2-4 mill for 2-3 years.

Listen to offers for JVR.

Re sign Voracek for reasonable money.

I'd like to sign Weber/Sutter but don't think we will and really don't want us to give up a ton for either of them.

im hearing they are gonna re-sign carle. Holmgren wants him to stay and carle wants to stay. Personally they need to change the system up a bit

sounds like carle is willing to take a home town discount to stay, and in the cap world this is really valuable to a GM.

you make a good point about the system. if we strugle for any prolonged length of time next year im willing to bet lavi leaves for a more defensive minded coach like stevens was.
