Your Mock 2012-2013 Rangers
With the draft coming and Free Agency not even month away a lot of moves will be made in the next couple of weeks. What would you guys like to see happen?
My 2012-2013 Rangers Carl Hagelin (.9) - Brad Richards (6.6) - Marian Gaborik (7.5) Rick Nash (7.8) - Derek Stephan (.9) - Ryan Callhan (4.3) Chris Krider (1.3) - JT Miller (1.3) - Brian Boyle (1.7) Jared Boll (1.0) - Mike Rupp (1.7) - Brandon Prust (1.4) McDonagh (1.3) - Girardi (3.3) Tim Erixon (1.7) - Ryan Sutter (6.5) Staal (4.0) - Stu Bikel (.7) Lundy- 6.6 Brion - .9 Trade Bait Anisimov MDZ Duby Prospect 2nd rounder for Rick Nash Jared Boll Sign Ryan Sutter 6.5 million for 6 years Honestly this year is probably the hardest to predict. I'm sure a lot of people will be on the trade market. Teams need cash to sign their own RFA. Might see a few big names moved. Nash would be my plan B, I would rather sign Zach Parise but that doesn't look like its going to happen. My mock team cuts it close to the salary cap but Gabby will be a UFA in 2 years. Hopefully Stephan, Hagelin, Krider, Miller all produce to make gabby expandable in 2 years. Stu Bikel will be replaced with Dylan McIlrath next year. The team would have two #1 scoring lines. A 3rd line with speed, grit and scoring ablitly. The 4th line won't score us many goals but would be tough and protect our stars and kids. |
There is no need for Rupp, Prust, Bickel, and Boll to all be in the same lineup. Any 3 out of those 4 is plenty. I'd rather have Weber than Sutter and I'm not
sure what I think of Nash. |

JT Miller is only 18 and won't be a Ranger next year. He needs more experience and I wouldn't rush him. Look at how we ruined Malhotra doing that crap!
I don't want Nash either. He is way overpaid for what he produces. He's paid like a Stamkos and couldn't carry Stamkos jockstrap! Columbus is gonna ask for more than you are posting for Nash and it's not worth it. In 1979, the Rangers traded 5 players and 3 regulars for Barry Beck who was only 23 and how did that turn out? It destroyed the team that went to the finals in 1979. They need to add a piece or two without breaking up the core of the team. Let the team keep growing and add to it! |
I dont want Nash. Hes lazy and just at the begining of his downslide. I like the young feel we have right now.
Can we clone Cally? |
Here's what I think we're looking at until Gabo comes back and not counting a Nash trade for now since that's going nowhere fast:
Krieder-Richards-Callahan Hagelin-Stepan-Anisimov Pyatt-Boyle-Dubinsky Rupp-Halpern-Asham McDonagh-Girardi Staal-Erixon Del Zotto (RFA) -Bickel Stralman (RFA) Lundqvist Biron IR: Gaborik, Sauer, McIlrath Connecticut Whale RW: Fasth Centers: Kolarik, Newbury, Haley, Lindberg, Yogan, Jean LW: Thomas, Hrivik, Grant, Bourque, Wilson Defense: Redden, Pyett, Parlett, Niemi Goaltenders: Talbot, Missiaen, Stajcer Veterans: Redden, Newbury, Haley (exempt) Looking for at least two defensemen and probably four or five forwards including an AHL goal scorer and some toughness. Possibly give Randy McNaught a two-way AHL/ECHL deal? Nobody except MW Jason Wilson who had an underwhelming year in Greenville and McIlrath if he's not dealt, but they won't want him doing all the fighting. Lots of AHL scrappers out there that would be good fits for Hartford including Soryal, Rechlicz, Desbiens, Liffiton, Lessard etc. and right now they still have room for three veteran (>260 career NHL/AHL/IHL/European Elite games) players so that isn't a hinderance right now. |
McIlrath is starting his pro career with a bang! Three games and three fights plus a suspension!

Here's what I hope we'll be looking at as far as the lineup on opening day. The thing is we are so strong on right wing with Nash/Gaborik/Callahan. I can't imagine any of them playing on the 3rd line but I'm not sure if any of them could switch wings if necessary. So I'll assume one will move for the sake of my prediction.
Callahan-Richards-Nash Hagelin-Stepan-Gaborik Kreider-Boyle-Pyatt Rupp-Halpern-Asham With Haley hopefully as the 13th forward. McDonagh-Girardi Del Zotto-Bickel Staal-Stralman Lundqvist Biron |
