2012 NYR Rookie Camp Roster

Forwards: Andy Bathgate, Luke Esposito, Jesper Fast, Ben Foster, Dane Fox, Barclay Goodrow, Marek Hrivik, Kyle Jean, Tomas Klima, Oscar Lindberg, Shane McColgan, JT Miller, Boo Nieves, Alex Rauter, Michael St. Croix, Christian Thomas, Andrew Yogan

Defensemen: Calle Anderson, Myles Bell, Peter Ceresnak, Brandon Devlin, Igor Glovko, Kyle Hope, Dylan McIlrath, Brady Skjei, Nikita Zaytsev

Goalies: Troy Groesnick, Gabe Grunwald, Jason Missiaen, Scott Stajcer

Nice to see at least a couple grittier players (Fox, Hope, Bell) get an invite after the Rags drafted nobody tough at all this year. Plus we have a few holdovers in McIlrath, Yogan and McColgan but no true enforcers like we saw in past years with McNaught and Noreau in camp to name a couple. The Rangers have found gems before like Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Matt Read who they obviously let slip away so we'll see who steps up this year. Also of note, Andy Bathgate, the decendant of the Rangers legend who was drafted by Pittsburgh with a pick acquired from New York in a trade for goaltender Chad Johnson, went unsigned and will attend the 2012 rookie camp. He put up 63 points in 68 games last season with Plymouth (OHL).

Just one scrap at prospect camp, reportedly an even tilt between Myles Bell and Dane Fox.

Making a good impression were Kyle Jean, who is entering his junior year at Lake Superior and Shane McColgan, a diminutive forward the Rangers drafted in the 5th round of 2011. Also reportedly looking solid were Scott Stajcer, Marek Hrivik, J.T. Miller and Andrew Yogan as well as 2012 second rounder Boo Nieves. Brady Skjei had to leave camp after just two days due to school commitments and Dylan McIlrath was injured in a collision with Jean later in the week.
