Good stuff today down in DC. Here's hoping it continues back at home. Whoever set the schedule wasnt kind to the Rangers, 2 games in less than 24 hours!?

Were gonna need someone tough on the D pretty soon. Last night Henrik finally took a dam stand and stuck up for himself. He gets ran every game and the D just stands and watches. Im glad he took a few swats and took a penalty. Someone needs to stick up for him.
We need a tough D man to do some net clearing and banging down in our corners and we also need someone besides Prust. The guy is willing to defend his teamates and take one for the team but hes in no way a deterrent or physical player. We need someone like Newberry who throws hits every time he is on the ice and takes the body and someone who can be a deterrent so other teams dont take libertys on us. In games like last night, Asham and Egellend were just throwing hits and pushing guys like Avery around and Prust just isnt enough to protect this team. We need someone thats willing to take a run at guys like Crosby or Briere or Ovi when the time comes to stop guys from doing that to our guys. Especially come the WC, Philly is gonna be all over us, Shelley is gonna be going after Dubs, Simmonds will be pulling his antics, Rinaldo will be running around and I just dont want Prust to have the be the only guy we have to protect the team. He is not a big PHYSICAL presence or body checker. Actually he sucks at throwing big hits. K im done ranting. PS Boyle for being 6'6 230-240 is a waste of body. Hes about as tough at this computer im typing on. I hope Rupp is back before the WC |

Rupp isnt the answer either. I just dont know whos out there that we could get. Shame of it all is that we had the guy, Orr. I'll never forgive the Rangers for letting him go.
I wish Avery was bigger. Could you imagine him being Boyles size. He would be a monster on the ice. I had high hopes for Boyle. He should donate is body to science cause he sure doesnt use it enough on the ice. |

How about this...dont change a fukcing thing...theyre 11-2 in their last 13. I say keep the same lineup and keep hustling. Loving this team right now.

As for Rupp he is tougher than anyone eklse we have. Boyle is the biggest puss in the league, he turtled to Stewart tonight. 6'6 245lbs and he turtles to a guy half his size. So like I said Rupp isbetter than anything we have. I love these goal spurts but we gotta hold them after we score 3-4 goals. We cant score 3 goals then give up 3 in a row. Gotta play a bit more careful when we get these leads. All in all the team is looking better than I have seen in years. |

Well Stewart isnt that small, hes 6'2 220 but still he gives away 5 inches and 20-25 lbs against Boyle and Boyle just turtled.
I know hes not there to fight, but hes our biggest player when Rupp isnt around. He needs to learn how to protect himself and teammates better. Rupp is no powerhouse by any means but without him we are weak. Right now were doing ok even against the Flyers and Pens (the bigger teams) but as the season winds down our softer players are going to need protection to stay on top of their games and not have other teams take liberties on our guys. Prusty is only 1 guy and as seen against the Flyers, he had to fight twice in the first period. He cant do it alone. |

The defense is a mess and overall what people here have been saying is 100% true...they may not be the softest team in the league, but they are soft. They don't have a team that could win a playoff series against Philly, Pittsburgh, or Boston...and thats just the obvious teams right now. Look at the embarassing situation in Buffalo, sure they have Gaustad and McCormick, but Ryan Miller has been run twice with little to no repercussions. What happens when someone does that to Lundqvist...Sauer is the only option on defense to to anything and really, how much can he do? I'm certainly not saying that a complete overhaul is necessary, but they need a top 4 stay at home d-man and they need another piece or two up front. Yes, let's all enjoy this streak while it lasts, but let's all keep our heads straight...remember a few years ago when they had the greatest October in franchise history? No Cup. They haven't had more than 44 wins since the lockout and also haven't made it past the second round.

The pieces will be added if they continue to play well leading up to trade deadline. For now, it would be a pretty damn good idea to keep rolling the same team and let them gel. Then they could make one or two trades come dealine time to prepare for a big run. I am pretty sure Potvin just wanted to ride out this hot streak rather than play GM like most Ranger fans think they would be great at. How that could cause a 50 year drought is beyond me. If the perfect deal comes up, they will bite. Otherwise they bide their time for now. Maybe Staal comes back in a month or two. That's a pretty good trade for nothing.
The Rangers are not soft. They may not win a bunch of fights but they are more than willing to fight for their teammates. As of a few days ago they led the league in fights, were second in the league in hits, and fourth in the league in blocked shots. Looks really soft to me. Add Rupp and take out Mitchel and they could hold up physically in any series. Boston is a very tough team and the only one that would scare me. The Lightning have one of the softest teams out there and they took Boston to 7 last year so I may be affraid of the matchup but I think they could hold their own. A lot of work to do before then though. If you're a Ranger fan and you can't even enjoy seven and five game winning streaks sandwiched around two losses then what's the use?
