Vote: Brandon Sugden vs Donald Brashear Round 1 Sep 24, 2009

Brandon Sugden vs Donald Brashear

Right off the faceoff after the Caps scored to tie it at 1, they drop the mitts and square off for a few seconds.

Brash finally comes after Sugar, but Sugar threw the only punches as Brash appeared to lose his balance.

I couldn't tell if the punches landed, so I'll say a draw for now.

Brandon Sugden vs Donald Brashear round 2

The play is going on in the Caps zone, and Brashear sees Sugar in front of him and starts shoving him.

Sugar skates around him, and as Brash is in front of the net, Sugar's got his mitts off, just waiting for Brash to accomodate.

This was a long fight, probably 30 seconds. Sugar controlled the start of the fight, Brash the middle and the end despite an attempted comeback by Sugden.

Brash appeared to be much more active as well as more accurate.

Win Brashear.

Brandon Sugden vs Donald Brashear:

Finally the one we been waiting for. They drop the gloves off a faceoff and square off for a few seconds. Brash lunged in and Sugden fed him 3-4 rights and Brash goes down, but it looked like he either bailed or tripped. Win Sugden, but a crappy fight.

i highly doubt it, brashear hasn't wanted to go with him all night. Sugar forced brashear into the fight and brash went down on purpose. He said in a interview there's no point in preseason fights. Even tho he should realize when he was a rookie guys gave him a shot, he should return the favor imo. But i guess when your doing this for 15 years your not in the mood to have a pointless fight?

It wouldn't be bad to see another one, but who knows.

While Sugden wanted the fight, he needs to show he won't be a liability in a regular season game. Brash is more than willing in these situations usually, I don't know why people were doubting him, he's an active preseason guy.

Brash clearly slipped IMO, he's not bailing out there.

Yet he's pretty active in the preseason: Donald Brashear

Funny how Brashear seems to slip whenever fighting a decent challenger. (Boogaard, McGrattan, Chara)

i'm not talking about the past, i'm talking about this year, it was actually 2 days ago, it was on msg. Idk if you noticed but sugden was trying to get him to go earlier in the game and brashear wanted nothing to do with the fight. Sugden forced him into this one.

He's scared of good fighters.

Good to hear Sugden got a scrap in. How has he looked hockey wise?

He hasn't looked that bad in terms of skating. He's been able to keep up with the pace.

Do you think Sugden has a spot with the big club?
I think he deserves a shot especially since the Caps need toughness.

No, the idiot McPhee has said numerous times he will not keep an enforcer in DC this year.
