Ripper received a match penalty for having tape below his wrists. What a ****in joke that is. He's had that same thumb taped for weeks now. I remember reading about him saying that he would have to wait for the off season until whatever it was fully healed. The tape goes around the inside of his thumb and the palm of his hand and around his wrist. Last time I checked, you don't punch with your thumb, your palm or your wrist so I'm not too sure why it's a big deal. It's not like that's what bloodied Janssens nose or anything and I'm sure that Cam would say the same.

As for the fight, on first viewing it looked like a solid edge to Rypien which surprises me because I thought that Cam was a little bit out of Rippers league. Too bad the refs kicked Rypien out because I'm sure that Cam would love to have a rematch and I'm sure that all fight fans would as well.

Rypien fights Janssen with a hurt thumb (taped thumb from sprain) and still comes away with the nod in an absolute slug fest. This cements Rypien as one of the best pound for pound in the league. Nominee for fight of the year.
He may have broken Janseens nose.

Definitely a fight of the year candidate. Maybe edge Rypien on first glance.

You got it backwards dude, Janssen challenged Hordi and Ripper stepped in instead.

I also heard he turned down Asham. I've read it on here about 15 times.
Get real! Rypien shouldn't fight Boogaard, but a fight vs Asham would be outstanding.

Since Janssen was bleeding, the refs had to give him the penalty.

By the way, Hordi is becoming increasingly more pathetic with every game.
Why is that? Hordi clearly asked Cam to go and instead he decided on Rypien. Kinda like last time when he went with Glass instead of Hordi when he was challenged....and when Hordi forced him to go he beat him.

I'm not sure if Hordichuk challenged Janssen or not. They were lined up beside each other & it didn't appear that either issued a challenge.

I thought it was a decisive win for Rypien. He had the much better shots and Janssen was a wreck in the box. I didn't think a fight between these two would be so decisive but maybe Cam underestimated Rypien.

Other than you, no I don't think that too many other people do find it funny. Give your ****in head a shake dude. Rypien has never professed to be a HW or a super HW like Boogaard.
As for the Asham thing, I don't know if that's true or not and if it is, then there could be a dozen different reasons as to why. One of which is NOT that he was scared of Asham. Hell, he just wanted to fight and then proceeded to beat Janssens, and Cam has beaten Asham repeatedly, so what exactly is your point?

I was going off the original poster's recap, which said that Hordi declined Janssen, so Janssen went with Rypien.

There is no point. People just like to bitch about stupid sh*t. The Flyers-Canucks game was PPV in BC, so I don't know if that ever happened. Like you said, there could have been many reasons as to why he never fought Asham, if he even did turn down a challenge.

Flyers weren't showing any life in that game. AV probably didn't want that to change.

Why can't people just enjoy the fact that we saw one of the best fights of the year, instead of bitching constantly about who turned down who, or why Ryp didn't fight Boogaard. etc...
