I like that Torres knew he'd have to fight and was read to do so right away. That being said, I'm torn on the hit. If Eberle wasn't reaching it wouldn't have been a headshot, I don't think.

I agree... Not as bad as the announcers made it sound... Should be interesting to see what the head office does with this...

That's a totally legal hit. Torres kept his arm tucked in and didn't extend it until after contact was made. Reach for a puck and keep ur head down, that's what happens. Was Torres supposed to just raise his arm straight up and check him with his ribs??
I doubt any suspension will happen

wait, wtf is the reasoning in this thread????
The guy never even touched the puck. Never. even. touched. it. And Torres comes in like a scumbag prioritizing creaming a guy in the head as hard as he can. If that hit is legal, than Scott Stevens would be a star player in this league because even Kariya had had possession of the puck before Stevens demolished him. But the fact of the matter is that Stevens' physical game is not welcome in today's league and I don't even know if he would have thrown a check as cheap as Torres's was. Stevens would have prioritized trying to clear the zone first and foremost. Torres will get suspended. Count on it... but then again, with the way this league is being run who knows. He SHOULD get suspended. |
