Steve Downie vs Karl Alzner

Alzner finishes a check on Downie behind the net and Downie takes exception. By the time I got the fight (was a little late looking up from monitor) both guys are swinging wild rights without much defense. Alzner loses his grip and Downie finishes with a flurry as Alzner falls to the ice.

EDIT: Looks like the cherry is popped for Karl.

Nice to see Alzner step up and stand in there to try his best. Downie got the best of him but he deserves credit. Showed more heart than a lot of guys who fight regularly.

The Caps played good, physical hockey for the 2nd game in a row. I might have a small stroke because of the amount of shock im in. Definitely not complaining though.

As for the fight, Win Downie as expected. But credit to Alzner for hangin in the there. He gets man card back a couple games after whining to the media about Jack Johnson Tebowing after a goal.

I wouldve loved to have seen Hendricks or someone make Downie answer for taking on one of our young guys, and at least they tried to get after him during all the scrums. The physicality really ramped up in the 3rd though and who knows what would've happened if Tampa doesnt make that game close. Downie seems to always find a way to stir things up when the Caps and Bolts play and it definitely ended up being a hell of a lot better game than I was expecting. Its always good to see guys like Stamkos droppin the gloves trying to fight someone. Im excited about this team for the first time in a while so im calling Downie and Hendricks fighting next game.

And big props to Troy Brouwer for his 1st NHL hat trick.
