Clifford just doesn't have it this year. Good to see a fight either way.

Win Stewart.

Cliffy needs to regroup in the offseason in the fighting department. I still don't think he is the answer for the Kings to fight every night. His hands (like in Jrs) will eventually prove his importance in the NHL. His line tonight was great.

Kings with 6 wins in a row!

Stewart takes this one.

Stewart could be considered a top power forward but doesn't do this enough.

Doh you think clifford been fighting all year little more defense and just not opening up as much? He seems to me he has which not as entertaining to us but smart for him since he got rocked last year just slugging away

Looked like a draw to me, I don't think either guy landed anything.

Clifford is just 21 years old and had some concussion-issues. With all the hype and things going on about concussions it's understandable that he might rethink his role as fighter and isn't as motivated to do it then some years ago.

IMO the Kings rushed him into the NHL to early. They should have given him more time to develop overall.

Anyways.

Ever since Clifford was dropped last year by Reaves he hasn't had a great record in the fighting department, and to think people thought he could be a better then Engelland in the fighting department and wanted to name him rookie fighter of the year last year. How things have changed.

Get your bell rung a couple of times and you're bound to be more defensive and this fits Cliff perfectly.

While I would love for there to be more fighting, Stewart does it enough by today's standards... Lucic has about 6/7 fights, Clowe has 6/7 fights, Stewart has 5/6 fights.

Unfortunately, no one does it enough these days... not even the enforcer.

I'd use the word "reserved" over "defensive". He hasn't been locking people out overly well, he's taken plenty of punches this year, and his chin still is poking out most fights. So he isn't spending too much time protecting himself, he justisn't throwing wild/angry anymore is the main difference. There's just something off this year.

Chalk it up to getting rung too much to end last season? or bad luck? or that his run last year was just a fluke? or something else?... I dunno what it is! But I don't see any reason to be hopeful or excited about him in the fighting department anymore. But his regular game is ever improving so there's that (which we forget on this site is more important). But I just don't see him becoming the beast we started dreaming of when he was on his fight win streak. I don't think he got any bigger physically and he appears to have lost his touch; not a good combo.

But he checks, has some hands to score, and brings an effort every night. I like him on the team. Just don't get excited about him eating people up.
