It's all good debate and I am probably a little more excited than I should be but for whatever reason I just really enjoy watching McGrattan fight. I just think that he clearly won the fight by landing more punches and cleaner punches (ones that land solid) no shoulder pad, helmet, back of head etc....Thats why I think he won but I say decesive I guess that I mean in the form that Shelley put up a good fight and landed a few as well. Decesive is like Belak Vs. Brashear. No debate whatsoever. I know you don't give edges but that is just your personality trait. You don't want or need a winner. Some others like myself want some closure on the fight, so we give edges but not always. It will never be a perferct system becasuse everybody has different opinions, ideas and lets face it knowledge and bias on fights and fighters.
I do agree with most of your posts as you do know how to call a fight but I think you could be a little more subjective and try to look at things from both sides of the fence. |

What an excellent night. Glad to have mcgrattan back ! looked a little weird in the yotes colours, but that doesnt really matter. He looked pretty good, thought he was alittle slower than usual but he hid it well by throwing lots.
the big nights im waiting for are Thu Mar 26, 2009 Oilers Coyotes and Thu & sat Apr 2 & 4 , 2009 Kings Coyotes . Obviously to see if him and Big Mac go and rematch with ratty or new up and comer kevin westgarth. |

I just try to see less grey area and more black and white I guess. If it's not an obvious win, I usually call it a draw but like you said, opinions definitely vary. I think I get my line of thinking from some of the players themselves, things I've read and some of the guys I've met like Rudy Poeschek, Brantt Myhers, Vinny Lecavelier, Andre Roy, Chris Dingman, Pavel Kubina, Tie Domi, and a few other guys and some I got to talk to a little more than others but most of them have said that most fights are draws, they usually don't last long enough to have a decisive result and even if they do, the guys are just trading punches and just having a good time so they don't feel the need to have a winner. If it's someone they don't like, it's different. I'll never forget when Craig Berube and Mick Vukota fought 3 times in the same game before the 3rd period and were tossed, probably so they could leave and go to a titty bar. It was easy to tell that they are friends and weren't trying to kill each other, they were just getting each other out of the game as fast as they could. Funny stuff. McGrattan made a nice comeback there but I don't think he and Shelley are pals, especially after the end of the fight. lol Onward |

Nice comeback scrap and welcome back fight for McGrattan - I thought he won that fight as well, but Shelley came back to make it closer at the end, but it was still a win for McGrattan.
If McGrattan and Prust can stay healthy, and in the lineup, they can make a pretty effective 1-2 punch. A little more light at the end of the tunnel for Phoenix fans.
