Jim Vandermeer vs Shawn Thornton Oct 22, 2011 ...

Jim Vandermeer vs Shawn Thornton

Off a faceoff in the Bruins zone, Thornton skates towards the blue line and they both drop the mitts and skate back over the blue line and square off.

After a short square off, they come together, and Thornton starts teeing off on Vandermeer.

Thornton throws at least a dozen punches, switching between lefts and rights, and connecting on two or three while Vandermeer doesn't even get one off.

The fight continues until Thornton lands a left uppercut with Vandy's jersey up over his head.

Win Thornton.

Pretty interesting scrap from a technical perspective. It shows how important the initial grab on is. Thornton got great position on Vandermeer and had him tied up and close from the beginning while being able to fire rights.

Not really when Vandy gets pounded pretty much, the way i saw it he was done at the end which was not to long. I may be wrong but i call it the way i see it

That's cool, I was just referring more to the fact that the initial grab on pretty much left Vandy defenseless, and I was just giving Thornton props for that - that's smart, crafty fighting: Vandy couldn't even get distance between himself and Thornton to try to avoid the rights. He'd have been in trouble if the refs didn't break it up and Vandy surely knew that.

Solid Win Thornton.

All Thornton in this. The refs stepped in and prevented Vandy from taking a huge beating.

i love how thornton gets inside, great technical fighter he is. by getting that grab and grappling to a good inside position with his boxing skill (reminds me of randy couture) he takes this win easy.

Thornton trying to get team going, Vandermeer agrees because he has been a healthy scratch with Sharks Deep in D.

Win Thornton, Not very close.

Win Thornton, although I was a disappointed with this fight. It had a lot more potential for an entertaining scrap than it was.
