I've never changed my tune. I stated from the get-go that McCarty is a skating vagina. What are you talking about, The rjman48?

F#ck it. The game is over and the Wings won. Maybe in game two McCarty will oblige, say, Maxime Talbot?

I don't think there will be any fights. If Franzen returns for game 2 (he's ready-barring passing a neuro exam), McCarty most likely will be riding the pine.

I think the Red Wings are the better team overall and will win The Cup but I do agree with Rugged that McCarty pussed out big time. That scene was pretty embarrassing, actually.

Babcock most likely told McCarty not to fight Laraque.

Game 2 should be interesting.

Malkin, Crosby and Hossa need to play better. I think the Penguins will win game 2.

Go Penguins!!

Red Wings forward Darren McCarty took exception to Laraque's post-whistle hit on Kirk Maltby early in Game 1. McCarty and Laraque shared a heated exchange.

"It was a little re-acquaintance," McCarty said, smiling. "He's trying to spark his team, and I've got certain things that I've been told to do. So, it's just guys going out and trying to play their roles. McCarty said the two fought earlier in their careers. The verdict? "I'd give him the nod, but I'm sill breathing, so that's all that matters."

His career fight card is littered with legit HWs-some arguably top 10 all time. Does that look a guy who is afraid?
That looks like a guy who was once good 10 years ago, but who would now get destroyed by any heavyweight.

When's the last time he actually beat a heavyweight? 2002? Yeah.

Hordichuk sure as heck isn't afraid of McCarty. If you think he is, get over yourself and start looking at reality.

If they fought, I'd put money on Hordichuk to pound McCarty to the ice. McCarty is getting old, doesn't have punching speed anymore, and can't really hang with heavyweights much. He wouldn't be able to handle Hordichuk's rapid punches coming at him.

It's hilarious that according to you, when McCarty turns down Laraque, he's not scared - it's just "logic". Oh, but when Hordichuk turns down McCarty... yeah, then Hordichuk is really afraid of him. Give me a freakin' break.

You can't have it both ways. Nobody is scared of McCarty.

Oh, and just liked you named off all the people that McCarty has fought when someone said he was afraid of Laraque - well, I'll do the same with Hordichuk. Hordichuk has fought the likes of Yablonski, Fedoruk, MacIntyre, Peat, Neil, Erskine, Stevenson, Laraque, Chara, Boulton, Brown, McCarthy, Simon, Probert, Simpson, Brookbank, Lessard, Bonvie, Peters, Perrott, Shelley, Johnson, Odgers, Purinton, Oliwa, King, VandenBussche, Boulerice, Low, Parros, Gratton, and Thornton.

He's not afraid of stinkin' Darren McCarty. Don't kid yourself. Hordichuk would clobber Darren. If you're going to get pissed at someone accusing 'your fighter' of being scared, then why do you accuse other fighters of it? Hypocrite.

Back to the discussion of McCarty and Laraque...

Whether McCarty was afraid of Laraque or not - he obviously knew that he was going to lose. I don't know if you want to call that 'being afraid', but he knew he had no chance and would have gotten his butt kicked, so he chose not to fight. You can call it whatever you want, but that's the truth.

McCarty didn't want this to happen again:

And as for the rest of the series, I doubt we see any fights. Downey isn't playing, so Laraque will have nobody to fight, and neither team is really loaded with middleweights either - so I doubt we see much. This is a "skilled matchup".

I agree hordichuk is not afraid of Mac but if youre saying that then it has to work both ways as well with Mac and Laraque
Laraque is out anyway

It was a sarcastic-condenscending remark directed toward Rugged. I forgot to add the . Of course Hordi wasn't afraid of McCarty, ya bozo. Why do you think Hordi didn't oblge McCarty, Wes? Use your imagination.

I was making a point that only because a fighter turns down a fellow enforcer, it doesn't mean he was a coward-and nothing else. Surely other variables are thrown into the equation. Was Brashear afraid to oblige McGrattan during all those times he was "dodging' him? There had to be a good reason, but "fear" or "chicken sh*t" wasn't one of them.

Try to use some common sense before jumping the gun with a knee jerk reaction when replying with a ridiculous post. And you can stick the rest of your self-righteous preaching up your tookus, because it was all misdirected.

I hope Mr. Roberts carries over some of his anger at being scratched last game. A pissed off "Scary Gary" rules all.

I would rather have Mccarty..Franzen is a Puss..I dont want to see him lift the cup up...I would rather see Mccarty play over him and lift the cup up..but if you would rather see Pusssy Euro players play over Mccarty..then thats your opinion.
