O Boy! Volchenkov rocks Schenn behind the net and shakes him up, a few shifts later Rinaldo absolutely obliterates Volchenkov who is still down. A sickening non-response from the Devils after a clean but vicious hit by Rinaldo.

This guy (Rinaldo) should never have been scratched

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!He single handedly woke up a dead team. Its a shame Bryz gave them a goal, but all the Flyers are hitting its contagious. And dont think that knee on Zubrus was an accident.

haha yea that hip check on Zubrus was definitely a bit of a cheap shot as the puck was nowhere to be found. still Rinaldo's play seems to be infectious, the Flyers scored right after his huge hit on Volchenkov

Flyers have an impressively deep group of young forwards (Giroux, Schenn, Couterier, Simmonds, etc), but that 9 year contract to Bryzgalov looks awful right now. Not sure what they can do about it now but I wonder if they look to just ship him to the minors/buy him out/force him to retire. I guess we'll see

Props to the devils for systematically shutting us down. They played a much better team game and deserved to win (obviously considering we only won 1 game.)

Bryz had an ok series and was definitely not the reason we lost. We lost because the devils didn't allow us space on offense and their forecheck created problems for our Dmen. I feel like our defense lost this series for us. The forwards didn't help out our Dmen when they were in trouble, and our Dmen could not push the puck up ice. Timonen played very average and was really outplayed by his rookie counterpart (Larssen), Carle had a horrible series and let the devils skate practically right up to Bryz the whole time, although he contributed somewhat offensively. Coburn was the lone bright spot, though he could use a little more nastiness to his game.

Jagr really showed his age this series and clearly was SLOOOW. That's why the only time he looked competent was on the PP when he had space. The only players who chipped in on offense were Briere, Talbot, and Giroux.

Rinaldo played a good game 5 and had an impact. Up until the first goal deflected off Simmonds, Rinaldo got the crowd going by demolishing Volchenkov. He brought some momentum back after the Bryzgalov giveaway goal. He might've been better to bring in a game earlier.

I didn't expect a cup run this year going into this season, but after the Pittsburgh series, the expectations went up a couple notches. This team is still extremely young despite 6 or so players, and this is the first playoffs under this current nucleus of players. The future looks bright and I would be shocked if we didn't use some of the money we can save by not resigning Jagr and having Pronger on long term IR next year to sign a pretty good free agent Dman.
