Just curious, what's the point you're trying to make here?

If you aren't implying that Orr is scared, then why is this such a sticking point for you?

I feel like crap like that happens constantly and cameras just never pick it up....so anyways where are you going with this?

I didn't see/don't remember the incident you are talking about so I really have any thoughts on it. If I had to guess a reason why Orr didn't retaliate it would be that he didn't want to be selfish and put his team on the PK just because some 5'11 little twat of an agitator gave him a shot in an attempt to draw Orr into taking a dumb penalty.

I'm trying to get some of the Leafs fans going overboard (which is almost a necessity when responding to hockey_doc) to admit that maybe Orr just didn't feel like fighting at that particular instance. He, and the rest of the Leafs, weren't out there constantly looking to scrap like people would lead you to believe if you read some of the overzealous game 'recaps' in this thread. There was no bullying going on, one team didn't physically dominate or intimidate the other. I think Orr was happy with the increased playing time and was content to just 'play hockey' for the rest of the game. He didn't feel the need to take himself off the ice because nothing happened that game that would require a response.

My overall point is the only thing lopsided about that game was the score (which is a huge deal here recently). Big hits and everything else people here enjoy was pretty even. The Flyers would have been outgunned if the Leafs fourth line was looking to start fights, but they weren't out there doing that. And if people want to claim that they were, Rinaldo slapping Orr without repercussions is the prime evidence against it.

Thought Orr smiled and said ok or nodded.

As he skated to the bench. Orr has never had issues taking penalties before, especially if a pest like Rinaldo just slapped him. The game was a blow out. It shocked me more than anything.

I get that you guys are stoked, you have every right to be, especially after the Montreal game. The Leafs 4th line is pretty sweet and they had a good game hockey wise as well. The coach supports it too which is always a huge plus. But save yourselves some grief later (when Orr or McLaren lose a fight, it happens) and tone down the over-zealousness and cockiness. Ask Bruins fans how it feels when the castle walls are crumbling down and all everyone is doing is rubbing it in your face.

I think it was a good game, but your buddy Hockey Doc...well, I had to retaliate. Nothing to be cocky about right now, just have to put people in their place. I know Orr/McLaren won't last forever, I know McLaren had a bad showing against Thorburn, I know Orr has chin issues, and I know Fraser is 50/50 and Brown can only fight the smalls.

That being said, keep in mind we have had nothing to really cheer about for years, even decades, and now that things are rolling and the team has some toughness finally, perhaps some chest puffing could be warranted. But all it takes is one game or one punch and right back down to earth everyone will be.

I certainly understand that, which is part of the reason why I'm trying to warn you guys about a future where every thread related to your team is reduced to flaming bullsh*t by legions of p*ssed off haters spinning everything into a negative and trolling.

That's fine. I'm sure every Leafs fan with an internet connection is used to that stuff by now.

No one on Philly will fight Orr, what don't you get?

Rinaldo? Of course not. He's an agitator when it comes to the bigger guys he know's he can't handle, did it last night with Peluso too.
Sestito? Apparently not. He was the go to guy with Jody on the IR, and he was off the radar the 2nd half of the game.
McGinn? Not a chance. He'll stick to the Stuarts of the league.
Shelley? Yes....if he ever played.

Orr isn't going to mugg guys all the time like he does time to time. (ei:Shelley)
Colt will gladly fight anyone that challenges him, which no Flyers did. The Leafs were killing Philly, so it was up to the Flyers to do something about it, which they didn't. It was their player that got hit from behind and missed some of the game, and no one stood up for him.

It's not Orr's job to mugg Phily players since they're not pressing the issues.

Orr scored a friggin goal of all people and Randy even put his line out for PowerPlays. Leafs make a joke out of Philly, who chose not to engage. Who cares about who face washed who as H_D would bring up, no one pressed the issue when they should have.

Right. When you are brought back down to earth later in the season I don't want to hear any whining out of you.

I'm just enjoying it for as long as I can. The Leafs haven't been fun to watch since Domi, Belak, Perrott, Tucker, Corson, Marchment, and Roberts patrolled the ice. At one time we had to suffer through Jamal ****ing Mayers as our main scrapper plus an over-the-hill Brad May.

As in, Philly will respond next time?

The Flyers have already been brought down to Earth, which is life with Lavy. No Heavyweight and no fighting orders must suck.

You saw Carlyle keep Orr's line on after the icing, Lavy took his right off.

You saw McGinn get drilled from behind, Rinaldo and Sestito didn't do anything.

You saw Orr's line score and play on the PP as the Leafs won 5-2.

Later-Schmlater, live in the now.

Carlyle is awesome and all but I don't know if he is that good where he could circumvent the rules and make a change after an icing. He had no choice. Lavi is a puss but even Carlyle would probably make that change to try and score off the face off.

Was a great game. I wrote early how both teams were really throwing the body around and it led to a very fun game to watch for a game with no fights. It was clearly on the Flyers to start something when they went down big though and this Rinaldo glove slap was nothing to me chimp. I think I saw they play (about midway through the third) and the linesmen were there pretty quick. If Orr just starts beating on Rinaldo and Rinaldo doesn't fight back (like last night) the game could have gotten close very quick with a five minute major. Orr will laugh that off but do what Prust did? ...
