Mike Brown wanted Kaleta off a faceoff. After "roughing up" Phil Kessel earlier, Kaleta no longer felt the need to be tough and said no.

Officials gave both of them 10 minute misconducts. Neither will be back until about 12 minutes left in the 3rd.

This us exactly why I believe if you're gonna go after someone and there is a chance they will punk out. Hit them anyways. Make sure you're standing infront of them. Just like matt carkner did last year and j.f did on mike duco in the pre last year too.

The refs really made me mad yesterday. It seems like they were targeting Kaleta. Giving him a frivolous 10 minutes misconduct and then a weak roughing at the end of the game that lead to a goal. I'm all for calling penalties that occur but when it's OBVIOUS refs dislike a player and single him out, it's maddening!! Broadcasters said they talked to the refs before the game and the zebras were "going to send a message" about what to except this season. Aw schiit, the refs acting tough and taking away from the game!!

The last one was weak, I'll give you that, but Kaleta has earned his reputation over the years. He straddles the fence on dirty/clean play every shift. If you play that way you are going to get penalties.

To me it looked more like the league wanting to keep the Leafs streak of never being shut out in a home opener. The calls were a bit lopsided. If not for Miller standing on his head they would have won, with the refs picking up the assist. It benefits the NHL to have a winning team in TO, but despite their best efforts the Leafs always seem to shoot themselves in the foot.

Yes you are right! That's the whole point. REPUTATION. I'm not going to defend Kaleta, he does play dirty sometimes , he does push the envelope sometimes, however when his reputation of doing bad things gets him into more penalties that's not fair! 10 minutes for talking and bumping with a Maple Leaf, a complete joke.
