Deryk Engelland vs Chris Neil

Neil was taking some runs at various Penguins, and planted a solid one on Kovalev. Engelland decided to intervene, and they dropped the mitts around the Ottawa blueline, getting right to it with no square-off.

Engelland started firing some overhand rights, landing the third one, a short stinger that landed pretty flush. Neil started firing back with some lefts, but Engelland had him tied up very well, so these punches were whiffing or coming up short. Engelland began throwing a flurry of rights over the top, one of which connected pretty solid, at which point Neil switched hands. They ripped each others' helmets off, and started wrestling for position with Neil throwing the last 3 shots or so, landing a couple glancing shots before Engelland lost his balance and Neil helped him to the ice with a quick left.

This was a draining hard fought battle between two savvy and dangerous guys who match up very well. Engelland earned an edge in this one for landing two pretty good shots while being able to keep a firm grip on Neil holding most of his punches at bay. Neil landed a few glancing blows, but not enough to earn a draw. Pretty narrow win/edge for Engelland. I'd like to see these guys keep the series going.

After viewing the fight. It was better than I thought after watching it live because there was no replay of it which FSN usually does.Good fight.I think these two are perfectly matched for eachother.Edge DE....

DE and Lessard both got misconducts for doing nothing. They both would have been better off just dropping them. But the refs were all over their confrontation.

edge E, good bout.

GCBC00 03-15-2011 10:25 PM

pretty damn close...

Tough call, here in a good fight. Not too much landing but still entertaining.
Win Engelland.
Can definitely see how some would call this a draw, though.

I love Engelland and i hate Neil...

but I'm gonna have to go with DRAW.

BrianTheAdsFan 03-15-2011 10:34 PM

Draw maybe edge Egelland as Neil keeps it in tight.

SirYohans 03-15-2011 10:59 PM

I didn't see enough to give an edge here. It looked like a very draining DRAW.

Killah_punk 03-16-2011 12:32 AM

Edge Engelland.

I haven't given many edges this year but I think Engelland does just enough to get it in this one...Neil must have been tight with Kovy, not....

Draw.

I don't deny I'm a homer, but I don't feel like one calling this one a draw. Neither guy really lands anything damaging, Engelland early, Neil late.

I'm also leaning towards a draw. But Engellands stint on the offence was slightly more intense than Neil's.

With that said, I could probably accept an edge for Engelland.
