I agree that Godard gets the edge, but you're making it seem like Godard landed some monsterous shot that injured Neil. In fact, you flat out said Godard injured Neil. That's nothing more than a mere assumption. There are many, many, other possible explanations for Neil slowing down.

Like I said, Godard still gets the edge, but let's not make it seem like he pounded Neil into oblivion here. It was a pretty close, entertaining scrap.
When I say Godard hurt Neil, I mean he stung him with several punches. No lasting damage was done and no injury. I think its a fairly reasonable to suggest that Neil was temporarily stunned by the punches and that caused him to quit.

It's indeed reasonable to assume such, but it would also be just as reasonable to assume that Neil was tired, or that his knee was feeling some pain. You are oversimplifying the cause. You might be right, but your statements are giving the impression that unequivocally, without any question nor doubt, Godard hurt Neil. It's possible, but there are a handful of other, very likely scenarios for Neil slowing down. And your manner of wording lends the impression that Godard dominated/pounded Neil. It is simply not the case. Even if you are right, which is possible (though not guaranteed) Godard did not dominate the fight. It was a good, close scrap.

I hope you mean this as a joke...seriously, I just watched the fight and I'll give Godard the win but if you saw a series of punches (several) that hurt Neal you're seriously delusional, he didnt land several punches.

Edge Godard.. both traded some punches, lots of misses, but the few Godard got in at the end made the difference.

Win Goddard, but not as dominant as I'd expect. Some nice lefts and a right or two landed. Neil with the big smile and a pat on the back to Goddard at the end.

Lot of big hits in this game, maybe we'll see some more.
I dont understand why people keep giving Neil props for taking on heavies this year. I mean is everyone forgetting that he was the Heavy for years before McGratton got there? He's always taken on the HWs. I wouldnt consider him a MW just like I wouldnt consider Cam Jansenn a MW despite his actual weight.

Good to see Neil go with the heavies again, no props to him thought since he's a heavy himself.

Who is Neil again? Thats right, a rugged veteran fighter who has tangled with the most of the monsters through his career, people make it sound like Godard fought Crosby here.
I wasn't that shocked, but if you watched the game with the FSN Pittsburgh feed, the announcers were talking about how "Neil's not a heavyweight, so he won't be fighting Godard" from the start of the game right up until they squared off.

neil did alright but godard still takes it.

on another note, i still find it funny as hell when people say "goddard" when it clearly says godard on his jersey. i wonder if these people are related to the folks that like marty "mcsorely"

I was surprised given the score and the injury he just had. I'd think Hartsburg would advise against fighting in that situation.

Regardless, good fight, not really anything worth debating for 10 pages.

ty for the video, after reading all the post , i thought it would have been a clear win to godard, i would give him a slight edge, but neil got some good shots in and definitely did not look out of place in this bout

neil is a good scrapper and deserves some props when it comes to fighting the big boys i remember last year when he stood in with brash and did a dam good job !!

You gotta love Neil. He was just coming back from injury, and he obliges arguably one of the top heavies in the league with the lead in the second.

A great fight, with both guys going back and forth and throwing a lot. Nobody seemed to control the scrap and it was pretty close, so hard to call, I'd have to say draw on first viewing, though possibly edge Godard. Neil had a smile on his face at the end and both guys gave each other a pat on the back, that great to see!
