Pittsburgh at Florida 11/23/09

Vote: Michael Rupp vs Bryan Allen Nov 23, 2009
YouTube- Michael Rupp vs Bryan Allen Nov 23, 2009

Michael Rupp vs. Bryan Allen

Off a faceoff in the Florida zone, Allen drops the mitts and goes right at Rupp.

Allen looked like he landed a couple of right hands before Rupp came back with a couple of his own.

Allen ended up taking a swing that was blocked by Rupp before Rupp landed one more.

They ended up along the boards as Allen was backing towards the benches where Rupp threw one more at Allen before the linesmen broke it up.

Win Rupp.

Of course my feed lags the second they drop the mitts. The fight happened as a result of Allen hitting Malkin by the net--it wasn't dirty or anything but Rupp didn't care for it.

Caps, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but for the love of god, spend more time on your fight descriptions. If you didn't get a good enough look, then don't just make the thread for the sake of making it. We all know you can come up with a better one than your typical "they drop the mitts, looked like blah blah" reviews. At least throw in the context of how the fight happened. Your reviews are about as helpful in understanding the fights as looking at the box scores. Take some of the time you spend copying and pasting your review into the possible fights thread and come up with something better, buddy, you can do it.

Not all of my recaps can be Pulitzer prize-winning ones moxie; I have bad, less descriptive ones every once in a while.

It was because of the Malkin hit. Rupp tried to get at Allen but couldn't at the time so they just dropped the gloves and went at it off the faceoff. Allen had a few punches early but after that, Rupp had the edge.

I'll give Rupp the win

Look, I don't mean any disrespect because you seem like a friendly dude, but the gap between your two canned sentences is the fight that you failed to review, at all:

[The actual fight should go here]

I thought Rupp had a definite edge in this one, as Allen wasn't nearly as active.
I don't want to go back and bring up all of your fight recaps because honestly, it isn't that big of a deal, but think of it this way. You can still whore out your post count making the second post in a thread created by someone who took the time to write an actual recap. Those of us who are not watching the game live would appreciate it.

Cheers.

Rupp with the win, but props to Allen for being accountable.

For the record, I'm not a post whore; I just happen to have a lot of posts. Second, not everyone's going to post the best recaps every time, and considering that the majority of my recaps are pretty good, I'd say it's a rarity.

The best opening post in a YSTB thread is one that sets the table but doesn't sway the reader before the video is posted. The debating should be for the posts after the initial post. Keep up the good work, caps.

I was happy to see this make the highlights of the CSN intermission show of the Caps game.

Win Rupp on 1st view.

Win Rupp, with a fight and a goal tonight, too bad he didn't get an assist.

Since I appear to be under fire, let me say this:

1. in this particular case, I tuned in towards the end of the fight, and caught the replay, of which the TV feed only showed maybe the first 10 seconds. It's not easy to catch every little bit of a fight every time.

2. I never feel like it's a race to post my recap first; it just so happens that my typing speed happens to get a thread up before anyone else.

3. Nobody's going to agree with my recaps every time, nor do I expect it to be the case. If you don't like my recaps, put up a better one yourself, and it'll likely be the one to be the first post in the thread, since multiple threads are merged and the better recap is often put at the top.

4. I'm not from the Northwest Territories.
