Philadelphia at Ottawa 10/18/11
Vote: Zac Rinaldo vs Zenon Konopka Oct 18, 2011
Zac Rinaldo vs Zenon Konopka Flyers jump out to a 4-0 lead in Ottawa during the 1st period, so something has to happen. Konopka and Rinaldo chat before a faceoff and drop em. Spirited scrap, neither guy seems to land anything significant though despite swinging hard. Draw. Vote: Matt Walker vs Chris Neil Oct 18, 2011
Matt Walker vs Chris Neil In the 2nd, Matt Walker gets his stick up and he and Neil drop them. These guys land more, Neil a good right to the face and some pawing lefts, Walker a couple solid rights to the side of the head. Two big strong guys swinging hard, but defensing themselves pretty good too. Slightest edge to Neil. Vote: Matt Walker vs Zenon Konopka Oct 18, 2011

Terrible camera work for Rinaldo-Konopka. Going to give that a draw as you couldn't really see what was going on and it didn't look like we were missing a whole lot anyway. At least not enough to give either guy a win.
Walker-Neil is a draw to me. Both guys definitely showed up to throw some punches, and they both got a few good shots in. They trade one for one, and both finish on their feet. Draw. Draw in both fights.

Chris Neil has great balance.
Draw, unless that last punch put Rinaldo down, I couldn't tell...Win Neil. |

Rinaldo-Konopka
Ref blocking most of the action, I guess that defaults it to draw as neither fighter looked to have a big advantage. The fight looked pretty frantic, I couldn't tell if Rinaldo got buckled or if it was just balance. Konopka was visibly upset with the linesmen for stepping in, as both combatants still wanted to throw. Walker-Neil After seeing the replay a few times they both land a few in close, but Neil is able to switch to his left near the end and land a good one. Walker's punches looked sloppy. Edge Neil Walker-Konopka At the end of the game there is a scrum near the benches and Walker-Konopka emerge, Konopka doesn't throw much in this one and Walker lands a few uncontested rights to the back of his head. After Konopka does his weird 'pop my head behind your elbow' thing he seems to do a lot, Walker switches to the left and they both look to land simultaneous shots, with Walker maybe landing a bit cleaner. Win/Edge Walker

Scrum in last minute w/Talbot, Rinaldo, Harry Z, Walker and some Senators results in:
Matt Walker vs. Zenon Konopka Walker throws 7 rights, none reach as Konopka holds on and leans away. Walker attempts 3 more rights that don't work as Konopka throws a non-landing right. Walker switches to lefts for two punches, may have landed a hard one. One of those boring fights that seem typical of Konopka with lots of grappling, not as much punching. Maybe edge Walker if that left lands since he was throwing the whole fight as Konopka fought defensively. Good to see three fights in a game, don't think that's happened for the Flyers since these teams met in January of this year.

Agree with these. Z-Rinaldo was a sloppy fight but if there's nothing else of note happening then if you end the fight with yourself getting twisted down and you in a vulnerable position taking a punch to the back of the head, I have to give you an edge/loss in that one.
Walker and Neil was fairly even with a slight edge to Walker for most of the fight as nothing significant was landing but Walker's size advantage allowed him to dictate the fight a bit more. Then all of a sudden Neil showed his experience connecting with some straight, short solid lefts and that flurry gives him the edge victory in this fight. Walker was bigger than Konopka and again dictated a lethargic sloppy fight but this time didn't let himself get tagged by the other fighter at the end so retains his edge/win. |

Glad we were able to get 3 fights out of this game. Konopka-Rinaldo was a decent scrap, but I'm not sure how much of consequence landed, and that zebra obstructing our view was annoying. I'd lean towards calling it a draw.
Walker-Neil was a good scrap. I thought Neil landed the better shots to get the decision in the best fight of the 3. And the final scrap of the game goes to Walker over Konopka. Walker was way more active throughout, and although most of his punches were well off the mark, he did land enough to get the decision.
