He fought once in the preseason and that's it. He was suspended for the first 5 games of the regular season and since then he's been healthy scratched about half the time.

The real probem is that hardly anyone carries heavies anymore, so there's rarely a partner for him. Today's game is a perfect example. He tried to go with Boyle on the first shift but Boyle already tasted Shelley's power last season and won't do it again unless Shelley does something crazy.

I'd like for him to force the issue with Prust though, considering that Prust has already gone with a smaller guy and a less experienced fighter and because, as already stated, it would get rid of Avery's security blanket.

*** Just had a look at the Flyers schedule. Since McGrattan is the most active heavy this year, it's worth noting that the Flyers and Predators play 1/14 and 2/2. I'd think both guys have that circled on their calendars considering the lack of heavyweights skating this year. I would think Shelley-Engelland would be a lock also considering how Engelland bloodied him up last season.

Missed the fights but just saw them on YouTube. Two decent fights, but at fast motion it looks like Prust really took it to Simmonds and that surprised me I thought Simmonds would handle him.

Simmonds is weird.. Some days he looks awesome and others not so much. I have seen him hold his own against top fighters, yet not be able to handle Corey Perry. He definitely will have his off days.

Hbo tonight has the flyers/rangers 24/7 12 minute preview. So expect to hear what was caught by Prusts mic in the next few weeks. Dam I can't wait for that show!!
