Didn't get to see the game but this is a damn joke looking at the box score. Z gets a 5 Minute Major for Charging Mike Lundin and a 10 game misconduct. 5 Minute Major for Charging??!?!?!?! and a game? Too me, without seeing a good replay, didn't look that bad. The officiating has gotten way out of control this year.

I've been critical of Zac all year. In this case I don't see it as a case of spot picking as he went in there to defend Harry Z and grabbed a guy closest to Z on the other side of the ref. (PS, refs trying to protect the hitter after his hit is stupid and ruins the policing part of the game, let the guy get beat on, that will be more memorable than being coddled by a zebra.) And yes, it appeared Rinaldo asked Kaspars if he was sure and wanted to go to which he then shed his other mit. First time I've seen Rinaldo really defend a teammate on ice like that.
As far as the rest of the game, he ducked Neil, Smith (who he could beat) in the third. In fairness, it was a close game but those two are 2 of the Sens better players currently and he should take that scrap to get em off the ice at least. Then the PP's came and Zac was safe on the bench. If the Flyers had scored an empty netter you know Neil was going to be on the ice looking for someone. 2 big hits on players, he was going to be looking to send a message. I don't know when these two teams play next but I expect Neil to take an instigator early on Rinaldo because Rinaldo won't bother shedding the mits. And as a Sen/Paul McClean, I have no problems with Neil doing that. Phillips is one of your best players/leaders, and a "pest" who should really be a Middle weight runs him. Flyers are lucky Carkner's not there too.

Harry Z leaves his feet to throw a hit looking for the KO...in typical Flyers fashion. If he had just kept his skates on the ice it would have been alright. I have no issue with someone getting caught with their head down, but this was a dumb play. Harry will sit for it.
And then...what can be said about Sac Rinaldo that has not already been said? I mean, gimme a break. The guy is a joke. Maybe next time he can fight Alfredsson! Last edited by Bruins29; 03-02-2013 at 03:29 PM. |

As far as Rinaldo, I can only go to bat for him in this case for the fact that he was looking to defend anyone coming at Harry Z and Daugavins was the guy. He wasn't saying, "Hey there's a non-fighting Latvian, I'm going to grab him." He was the first guy he saw. But I can't go to bat for him ducking Neil and Smith and I'm glad Alfie cross checked him in the head.

Would there be something wrong with that? Alfredsson cross-checked him i the head after all.
