Typical Chara fight...maybe some people will finally realize that he is way overrated as a fighter and will stop with the stupid formula: size = fighting ability.
Overall Chara did what was necessary too bad he fell down so quickly. Neil was challenged by the Bruins captain and they fought...End of story. All the talk about further payback etc. is just grade school behaviour. Recchi might be the oldest guy to fight in the NHL since a long time I would guess. It didn't happend often that a 42 year old got into a fight.

Really disappointed the B's didn't do more to make Neil pay for the Wideman scrap.
I thought the Chara scrap was kinda funny because CBC showed a camera shot of Neil and Chara talking and shaking hands earlier that day outside the dressing rooms. 2 hours later they get in a fight. Kinda funny, and helps explain why Neil held up at the end.

Neil vs Chara: Draw in a crap fight. Neil could have punch Chara but didn't, Dino thanked him.
Campoli vs Recchi: Draw, spirited bout but nothing landed.

suckerpunch, why are you such a sens douche bag? Neil hits late more than any fighter in the league, as soon as someone is tied up by the ref Neil loves to throw the dirty shot. You Senators fans are too much.

I could never understand the criticism of Chara. The guy is the captain of the team and perhaps the best player of that team. It shouldn't be his responsibility in fighting guys like Neil. So for him to even show up is admirable on its own. The guy risking injury by fighting a 4th line player. It's not worth it, for a player his stature.
And I don't think you can say much of that fight. He simply lost his balance. But im sure he would give Neil a fight of his life. Chara a very dangerous fighter, with his power and reach. Dude can hold his own with the best of them. He reminds me of Lindros in terms of skill/size and fighting ability. |

He's definitely got reach... power I'm not so sure about. IMO Lindros was a much better fighter, and had a mean streak. Chara, as you said, relies on his size and reach... and there isn't that mean streak there imo...

Crap fight. Neil could have went to town on Chara when he was down and didnt.
Second fight was a draw. Edwards is a moron. He said Recchi gets the record for a win in the largest age gap. That might be true if Recchi actually won the fight. Takedowns mean ****. |

Chara and his selective balance.
Phony display by Zdeno Chara. Disgusting is another way of describing things. Chara could have been firing away from the second he broke his right free when he threw his first punch. It wasn't a death grip, but Neil had a hold of Z's right. Chara threw a bit of an uppercut and then was free to swing away with his huge reach. He's done it before. Instead however, he throws one more punch and then "falls." Neil didn't give a f*ck about trying to light up Dennis Seidenberg. If Chara is going to act like a tough guy and take matters into his own hands, he shouldn't give a f*ck about trying to light up Neil. Pathetic display. Chris Neil is a p*ssy in all of this as I see it for not throwing at Z while he was down. What? Suddenly the "code" matters to Chris Neil? Neil is as throw back a cheapshot artist/tough guy as we've got left. Few guys today are willing to blatantly do something wrong to another player. Chris Neil traditionally kicks a man while he's down. As a Leaf fan, I've seen it from him many times. I like him for it. Disappointed that he chose not to here. Seems these guys chose to act like friends rather than competitors here. Neither was willing to do what should have been done. I blame Chara. He was the one who went looking for it. If he wasn't going to take the fight serisouly, he should have left it to Lucic or Thornton. Win, lose, or draw, either of those 2 would have tried to "avenge" Seidenberg rather then just looking like they were.

Chara is still good in fightning if he keeps his balance but usually goes down to the ice quickly. |
