got a mess of his fights on dvd as an Admiral and St. Johns Maple Leaf. i started following him as a Leaf and still liked him even as a player for Norfolk. whom i hate excessively because of the cracker ass Norfolk fans.

Smash,do think the young McDermid can do what Thorny does? Seriously. Take a valuable shift, hit, grind, shots on goal, etc. I watched McDermids pop in Hartford. The boysc tough,no doubt, but im thinking he cant bring to the table what Thorny brings. Trust me,i wanna see the young McDermid up in Boston,he's got a style that B's fans like.

No i really do not but i think the Bruins are grooming him to be that guy about the same size. He actually did pretty good this past week against Bonneau which surprized me, The problem is Thorts will be 35 next year and by the way this thread is going he will probably be a Flyweight by then

I agree dude. McDermids being groomed for Thornys job. Young McDermid has a bright future with the B's,i think. In fact,he should get a call up this season,he earned it in camp in Sept.!

And you base this on what? His fight card from last year?

Save your breath...you'll never convince them. Thorton was the heart and soul of the B's playoff last year. There was not a better 4th line player in the league...I would go so far as to say there were very few third line players that I would have picked over him.

As far as the folks who say his best days are behind him...that's based on what? The man has fought anyone and everyone who has challenged him or his teammates. He doesn't take dumb penalties, he can play both ends of the ice. Someone please tell me how you come to the conclusion that this guy is on the decline.

As far as this "weight class" bs is concerned...I guess his fight with Boogaard last year shouldn't have happened. Boogaard was picking on a guy out of his weight class.

his better FIGHTING days ARE behind him. based on what i SAW frim him in the AHL 6-8 years ago. no doubt he is a better PLAYER. obviously, from WHAT i've seen,he's not the fighter he was in the AHL at 25.

is he VERY effective...YES. is he as good a fighter as he was at 24 ... NO.

sail away fool. i've got more footage that will never see youtube, at least not thru my stuff. i've got about a dozen AHL fights on dvd and i saw him play at the rink a half dozen times

Win Thornton in a close scrap.

Win Smith. Campbell gets the A+ for effort, but he doesn't win too many.
