NY Islanders at Pittsburgh 2/2/11

Vote: Zenon Konopka vs Michael Rupp Feb 2, 2011
YouTube - Zenon Konopka vs Michael Rupp...

Konopka vs. Rupp

Konopka and Rupp almost went in the first so I guess this was their way of settling it.

Rupp gave Konopka a cross check to the face in the neutral zone as they were tied up before they dropped the mitts. Konopka started with a couple of punches that miss and Rupp returns a couple rights to the helmet. Konopka ended up getting his arm free and threw a couple rights to the back of the head. It was mostly wrestling, Rupp threw a couple that missed towards the end before tossing him (Z) to the ice.

Draw, crap fight.

Brawl!

Vote: Rick DiPietro vs Brent Johnson Feb 2, 2011
YouTube - Rick DiPietro vs Brent Johnson...

Rick DiPietro vs. Brent Johnson

Cooke hits DP (who definitely put himself in the way) and Immediately is jumped by both Konopka and Martin. A big pile on ensues as Engelland comes charging in on it. All of a sudden they pan over to DP and all of a sudden Johnson skates over. They start getting the gloves off and the linesmen try to break it up but they square off. They each throw a left at the same time and Johnson drops DP. This was awesome though.

TKO WIN JOHNSON

Konopka hangs on to Rupp's stick as Rupp tries to free himself and gives him a couple of shakes. Konopka asks and Rupp obliges.

Edge Rupp in an uneventful fight.

Konopka used his huggy bear style. Slight win Rupp.

Comeau was facing the other way in open ice, and Talbot laid into him. I didn't think it was dirty...he didn't hit his head, but it came from his blindside.

Yeah, Talbot caught an unsuspecting Comeau with a clean hit which shook him up, and then Rupp interceded when Martin and Konopka tried to say hello.

Not a whole lot looked to land in the eventual scrap between Rupp and Konopka. Rupp might have done a little better to pick up the edge in the tilt.

It sadly looks like Talbot is going to be permitted to run all over the Islanders all night without a response.

Why would we need Gillies over Schremp on the 4th line...

As for the fight, Rupp was more active but Konopka got in a better shot. I need to see it again.

I like how Rupp waived the linesmen off.
