NY Islanders at Ottawa 11/4/10
Vote: Matt Martin vs Zack Smith Nov 4, 2010
Martin vs. Smith They drop the gloves and helmets at center ice. Once they grab on, Martin throws a ton of left jersey jabs, each throw a right, Martin throws a good right that misses but puts Smith off balance. He gets up and his jersey gets over his head so Martin holds up and its over. Give it to Martin in that one. Gillies was out at the end and looked like he was going to run someone but nothing happened.

That's just the way it's going to go." Last edited by VodkaFish; 11-04-2010 at 10:30 PM. Reason: vid/link |

I like the coaching on this one... Both coaches threw out the guys involved in hits from behind to finish this snoozefest off, and the boys threw the mitts and helmets down off the draw. They had a long square off, and Martin beat Smith to the punch, and landed a short series of pretty much un-answered shots. (Smith was throwing back, but he was off balance and missing) Smith's sweater got up over his face, and the refs came in to break it up. Not a great fight here, but it's good to see Smith get an FM. I think more could be brewing over the course of the year involving these two teams.
Win Martin in a pretty crappy short fight, but there is some bad blood a brewin' between these two teams. Last edited by The Woodsman; 11-04-2010 at 10:07 PM. |

I agree that it was nice to see both Martin and Smith out there at the end of the game to potentially answer for their respective hits from behind earlier in this game. The scrap itself was just ok, Martin got the better of it and landed some shots to pick up the win.

Smith and Martin had to own up for a couple cheap hits, but Smith came out on the worse end, by far. Smith looks like such a little kid, it always looks like a boy fighting men when he drops the gloves. He's got guts, you gotta admire that about him, but Martin easily took this one.
