Gillies is not joking coming into camp this season. Probably in the best shape of his life @ 32 years old. Very impressive performance tonight! Cant wait to see the 10/25 showdown between Gillies vs. MacIntyre.

Round #1 no winner...bullsh-t cheapshot by Gilles...

Round #2 was a long, great, fight between both combatants...However Gilles proves again that it is always hard to beat a good lefty.. win for Gilles but not by much. I have a feeling they will meet again and Janssen will fair better.

I'll give Gillies the benefit of the doubt on that late shot in the first fight. It looked like he apologized to Janssen right after he threw it too (or it could have been them discussing about having a round 2).

Round 1: Draw or edge to Gillies

Round 2: edge/win Gillies. Very good fight.

It looked like he was telling Cam to blame the linesmen, I guess he thought they were going to let it go.

I don't know about that. WIN Gillies, but Janssen had some well timed punches in there that landed flush. I've seen Gillies hand out bigger beat downs than that.

Great competitive scrap.

"We were both tagging each other. He's a tough dude," Janssen said. "He's been a tough guy for a long time. We're going to be going against each other a lot, I think. We both have to make the team. If we do, we're neighbors and it's going to be a blood bath all year."

Has a preseason fight ever been nominated for FOTY before?

Gillies did a great job of keeping Cam off balance and kept sneaking that left in. He landed a couple beauties. Cam hung in there and landed a couple decent shots towards the end but it was too little too late. Gillies with a solid W in a very good fight.

That was a great fight. Kind of old-school fight we don't see often anymore. I would give the win to Gillies in this one.

Gillies felt bad there I think. He's not that kind of fighter.

Or maybe he was telling Cam that was for hitting me when I was on the ground, the thing the Gillies haters seem to be ignoring.

Sweet! Two wins for Gillies and I don't think that second one was all too close when it comes to punches landed. Cam is tough as they come but Gillies is really a tough matchup the way he could throw with both hands, then again most matchups are tough for Cam with his size disadvantage.

Could be some good hockey in the area this year if all pans out. Gillies is worth a watch alone and then you throw Haley into the mix. The Flyers may even dress a tougher lineup against division foes.

If you watch the replay, I don't think Janssen actually punched Gillies when he was on the ice in the first scrap, even though it looks like he may have started along that path.
