Obviously Neil's eye is not combat ready, he is still wearing the shield, did that hamper his ambition to mix it up?

Win Stoner.

Chris Neil is currently 34 years old. It does look like his best years are behind him, for sure.

Not a bad job by Stoner, he has been playing relatively nasty since playing hurt couple games back. Im pretty sure Neil will lose the visor once his eye gets better, if I was him id lay low on the fight for couple games until it fully heals.
I was gonna say the same thing. Heatley say " come one Clayton, F him up"

Since when does Neil where a visor?

Neil WEARS a visor after taking a puck to the face about 10 days ago. Not very sporting of him to initiate a fight while wearing it but whatever, that's today's NHL, even an old school warrior like Neil is doing it.

That's why it's great that Stoner tagged him real good and won the fight.

To me, I thought it looked like Stoner was the one that wanted to go, likely the result of getting his doors blown off.

Regardless, Stoner definitely got the better of the exchange, landed some real nice shots, which surprised the hell out of me. I know Stoner can fight, had a real nice KO in the AHL when he dropped, I believe, that punching bag Brodie, but I didn't think he'd be able to hang with a seasoned vet like Neil.

Sure would be nice if Konopka didn't have to shoulder all of the toughness, I don't think his face can take much more....Pretty sad when the Bemidji State womens hockey team is the toughest team in town....

(Though, I am a Bemidji State alum, so Go Beavers....)

I know, I just don't like Neil. If he was on my team I would love him, but stuff like this (giving a guy a shot at the end while wearing a visor) annoys me about him.

He's definitely a warrior, but he's had a few incidents that make me shake my head. In the playoffs when he fought Fedotenko but turtled against Dingman, when he jumped Somik, throwing extra punches at Gleason. I know anybody who drops the mitts a couple hundred times is going to have questionable moments. I should just be happy there was a fight on "rivalry night"

Win Stoner.
The kid is listed at 6'4 228 and gets the better of Neil in one scrap. Suddenly Neils best days are behind him and he is a "former legit light-heavyweight".
lol, that escalated quickly.

While Stoner may be bigger, it has little to do with the matter, as he, someone not known for fighting all that often, beat someone who has made a living from fighting. It's a nice notch in Stoner's belt, but like you said, it's just one fight.

And as many from this site know, size has nothing to do with the quality of the fighter. Boogaard was a giant, but he was by no means "undefeated". Personally, I'd much rather fight Evgeny Artyukhin (listed at 6'5 254 lbs) before I ever thought about fighting Rick Rypien (5'11 184 lbs).

Konopka has a fucccccked eye, still went around visor less. I have 100 % have no problem with someone wearing a visor for a bit after an injury fighter or not.

Not known for fighting? Stoner has 67 career (according to HF) fights.
He is big and has plenty of experience. Artyukhin is a poor comparison.

I am not a fan of these Sens jerseys at all. They need to go back to the one's they had during the Vaclav Varada days. The black ones.
