Did McCormick try to get Scott off balance by hooking his stick behind Scott's knee, giving a quick tug, and then quickly dropping the gloves? Tricky bastard, it almost worked.
It looked like McCormick wanted out of this one after the first five seconds. The hip toss looked sweet, but was really just a blatant attempt to end this fight and salvage some sort of moral victory. He gets no points from me for doing it. Draw.

I agree that a takedown like that is almost as bad as a slew foot, but it's not often you see a fight where one of the fighters is in a position to perform a slam like that. I'm not sure if a ref is able to tack on extra penalties for doing it...anyone know?
We are all pretty lucky Scott's head didn't hit the ice, because something like that might just be the straw the broke the camels back for this 'helmet debate' that's going on, and fighting in general for that matter.

That fight looked like David vs. Goliath. Scott is enormous, and McCormick did a good job avoiding getting tagged even though he couldn't muster any offense of his own. I think he was definitely looking for a way out of the fight, which led to the takedown, but I don't think he'd be taking this much heat for it in this situation if it weren't for the debate raging in the media right now.
