Edmonton at Cagary 1/30/10

Vote: Shawn Horcoff vs Mark Giordano Jan 30, 2010
YouTube- Shawn Horcoff vs Mark Giordano Jan 30,...

Mark Giordano vs. Shawn Horcoff

They basically find each other out of a gathering after a whistle. They tie up and wrestle for a little, then Giordano tags Horcoff with an uppercut right. Horcoff throws a right, and Giordano comes back with five consecutive rights, most of which connected. They get in close and Horcoff switches to the left and connects with about four punches. Giordano responds with two short rights. Horcoff pulls Giordano down to the ice.

Edge Giordano

Vote: Sheldon Souray vs Jarome Iginla Jan 30, 2010
YouTube- Sheldon Souray vs Jarome Iginla Jan 30,...

Jerome Iginla vs. Sheldon Souray

Lots of shadowboxing and preparation for this one as both guys shed the helmets and elbow pads. Souray throws a right which might have landed and he winds up on his knees. Iginla throws a weak right to Souray's shoulder and is pulled down to the ice. Both get up quickly and throw one right each simultaneously, Souray's was the only one that appeared to connect. Then it's a throwing frenzy, each one throwing wild rights which do not connect, about 9 all together. The lose balance and go to the ice.

Draw, possibly a slight edge to Souray.

Good on Horcoff. I thought he was going to get killed but on first viewing it looked like he actually connected with some decent punches.

He's been absolutely useless this season but he gives it his all every shift. I don't think he's ever fully recovered from that season ending shoulder injury he had in the All Star game a couple years ago.

Giordano gets the edge in the fight but that seemed to spark the Oilers.

Jarome Iginla just showed tonite why he is one of the ultimate warriors in todays NHL..we all know he put Souray on the IR for 16 games this season and then tonite he accepts the challenge from the much bigger Souray and does more than hold his own...How many stars in the NHL can or would think about doing that.....

Giordano early, Horcoff late, Draw.

EDIT: I watched this one again, and I'm changing my call to a win for Giordano. He did more to deserve it.

Iginla vs Souray was a wild fight, lots of wild punches...it was kind of even, but it looked liked Iginla's last punch landed pretty solid. Draw/Edge Iginla.

Hands Down..

Nice choice of words "hands down" in last post as Souray broke his hand in that fight and is likely done for the year.....There go the trade rumors. Although I would still trade Wade Redden for him!

Sucks for Souray...he gets injured fighting all the time...
Respect for both of them though settling things the honourable way.

The amount of equipment removed before the fight was hilarious.
I count; 4 gloves, 2 helmets, 1 elbow pad and the thing on Sourays wrist.
I think Iggy vs Souray is a draw.

Holy smokes Mcg looked great last night, he was making some awesome plays!

Looked like a draw in the Souray/Iginla tilt. Pretty disappointing, especially for Souray to get injured.
