Win Orr...
I'm not surprised Barch hung in there as a Stars fan getting to see him fight over the last few years. Barch is sneaky tough and a good fighter. Takes on bigger opponents and is underated IMO, ask Brad May. He was on the Stars broadcast last night talking about how tough and good of a fighter he is. My only problem with Barch is he can really only throw with 1 hand effectively. Most of your great middleweights or light heavy's whatever you call them Prust, Neil, Rypien etc..can use both very effectively. When you're taking on guys consistantly 3-5" taller and 20-40lbs heavier you can't rely on a big Boogaard bomb or Colton Orr bomb, you have to be able to switch the angle of attack. Other than that since his KO from Carcillo he's become a much better defensive fighter and tucks his chin well now.

When I first read the box score in the paper, & saw that Orr & Barch had fought, I said a little prayer for Kris' family as I figured he had surely been knocked into the afterlife. But, surprisingly he hung in there pretty well, letting Big Colton tire himself out flailing his monkey arms at Barch. Still, this was an edge for Orr.

This fight went about the way I expected with Barch holding on for his life in the early part and letting Orr punch himself out, in which he did...Barch is undersized but has a huge heart and is a smart fighter . He did what he had to do and even landed a few himself, win Orr...
I only saw the fight on computer and I can't tell but does anybody have a clear view of the last punch thrown by Barch. Did it land, hit shoulder, arm etc...or was it just a balance and tired fall from Orr... Last edited by rondo; 11-23-2010 at 03:43 PM. |

Looking at Orr's legs and his left arm it looked like he may have got caught. If that punch didnt land, it's a clear win for Orr. Orr landed a few really nices shots to the side of Barch's head, I'll be his ear is sore as hell today..

To me it looked like Orr went down because of the momentum of his last punch not to mention the fact that he was gassed and he looked like he was willing to keep fighting when he hit the ice.
It's too bad there weren't any better camera angles so we could know for sure. |
