Scott knocked him down but McLaren wasnt phased and was still good to fight IMO. When they skated away, McLaren wasnt phased at all. Thus why I asked earlier if there was such a thing as being ' driven ' to the ice. He wasnt knocked out by any means, wasnt really knocked down as it ' punched and then dropped '..

It looks like Scotts height gave him an advantage to put leverage behind his punch when it hit and ' pushed ' or ' drove ' McLaren down.

I wouldn't go that far. Scott definitely has some power and has shown he can do damage. People just overrate him like crazy and compare him to boogaard when he's nothing close to boogs. Scott had a good record going until he came to buffalo and became the enforcer. When he was on minn, boogaard would fight the other heavies and Scott would fight the lesser guys.

I'm not normally a big fan of jersey jabs, but I was impressed by McLaren's use of them to prevent Scott from taking advantage of his size/reach advantage.

I agree that McLaren made great use of the jersey jab to keep Scott off balance here. I thought that Scott landed there at the end, and if he didn't knock McLaren down, he at least knocked him off balance, and then called for the linesmen to step in. It was a draw, but I like what McLaren did here against a bigger opponent. Good fight.

I actually thought Scott waved the linesmen in because he knew he had caught McLaren with a good one. He's just not mean spirited enough to keep throwing at a guy when he's down or in perceived trouble.

With that said, Scott was lucky to escapre with a draw call from me. McLaren had that one until the KD. Good showing by McLAren, he took the fight to big John, peppered him with jabs and overhand rights. Scott did come back well but he was behind on all cards until he landed that right.
