And if you watch the fight, Scott was close to connecting one of his big rights on Orr. And to me, I think in hockey fight these days and how hard they punch. It's basically who gets hit first loses. This fight could of gone either way.

I'm sure there rematch will be interesting.

As for John Scott, this is the year where he virtually has to fight the heavies, there is no where to hide. (That's if he gets scratched or benched) So will see what he's made out of once he fights guys like Thornton, Carkner, Shelley, Engelland rematch.

So far he's fair'ed well against highly respected fighter like Orr.
I agree. For all my criticism of Scott's weak fight card and undeserved reputation I would still pick him to beat most current NHL heavyweights. The only guy I would pick to beat him with any degree of confidence would be McGrattan, and Scott doesn't have to worry about him this season.

100% incorrect. 3 years ago the black guys were the champs. the only people who had a shot at claiming HW champ since then have been boogaard and carkner.

Your welcome!......I think?

Could the season have started off any better than this? I mean, first HUGE scrap of the year (with all do respect to Thornton vs Rupp) and with big questions looming over both Orr and Scott whether Colt was healthy and if Scott was finally man enough, and BOOM, down goes the big guy!

Incredible.

Just like MacIntyre knocking out Ivanans opening game!

I think he's just mistaking 'Champ' for 'Fighter of the Year'.

But you're wrong aswell. Colton Orr has been closer to the top than Matt Carkner has, for quite a few more seasons. Just as Shawn Thornton has been.

....... and I don't know, maybe the CURRENT CHAMP Brian McGrattan?

John Scott vs Colton Orr-Win Orr.

Marcus Foligno vs Mark Fraser-Draw.

LOL! not to highjack the thread, but i completely disagree. when laraque and brashear retired it left boogaard as the champ by default. boogaard got his ass kicked by carkner, not by orr

I don't know what's wrong with some of you morons, but any other combat sport, when a punch or punches ends a fight it's a TKO.

But then again people who only watch hockey for the fights never were anywhere near bright.

And since Boogaard died, McGrattan came back and earned the belt, not Carkner. Matt has been dummied by Orr in 4 of their 5 fights. Hell, Lucic beat Carkner.

It's no contest that Carkner was never the Champ.

Laraque, Brashear, Boogaard and now McGrattan. MacIntyre would be in the mix too, if he ever played and fought more.

Carkner's last fights have been the loss to Milan, then stinkers with Adam Hall, Mark Stuart and Joey Crabb. That's not a Champ.

Boogaard got his ass kicked? I suppose you consider a few punches and a dangerous takedown leading to a concussion an asswhooping

well "got his ass kicked" is relative when it comes to boogaard, that was about as much as that dude could have gotten his ass kicked.

aawww, someones up set orr got dropped by carkner! LOL does it upset you carkner had a bigger claim to being the HW champ than orr? mcgrattan's a good call, but i feel like he barely fought last year.

Orr gets the win with that last body shot. Nice to see him back and healthy. Just hope if he continues to go balls to the wall that he doesn't end up getting caught with a hard one. Next concussion will come easier and probably mean the end for him playing. Maybe it's me, but Scott doesn't seem to have that killer instinct...Some guys enjoy fighting, others simply do it to pay the bills. Just doesn't seem to have that mean streak needed to do real damage. Rematch should be interesting just to see how Scott comes out. Remember after Carkner lost to Orr, he came back and hurt Orr. Maybe John's pride will be hurt and he'll be looking for revenge. Guess we'll see...

Stop posting?

What in the **** does Carkner have to do with Orr TKOing Scott? No need to answer.
