Boston at NY Islanders 9/18/08
Im going to do this from memory since I was at the game. I took video of the fights so I wasnt really watching them very hard.
Scott Fletcher vs Joel Rechlicz Joel comes out on a line change and drills Zach Hamill in hte corner. Hamill goes down. Recker then lays out another Bruins player in hte corner. As the play moves up ice, Scott Fletcher realizes that Rechlicz is going to kill someone and taps him on the back. They drop them and exchange blows. Fletcher seems to get in hte most punches, though not much was landing by either player. They swing each other around as Fletcher had Rechlicz tied up pretty good. I say Draw/edge Fletcher Matt Marquardt vs Micheal Haley Brad Marchand cheap shots Jared Spurgeon from behind and Haley goes over to him. Marchand wants nothing to do with him and skates off. Haley decides to take it out on someone else and lays out anotehr Bruins player with a clean open ice hit. Marchand yells at Haley from the bench. Haley skates over to the Bruins bench and yells back before going off on a change. With about 5 minutes to go both Marchand and Haley are on the ice and Haley wants him to go. Marchand skates away again so when the whistle blows, Haley goes over to him at the bench and cross checks him to the ice. Marquardt jumps in and we have ourselves a fight. Marquardt starts getting the early shots in on Haley and then Haley gets going. He swings Marquardt around and ties him up. Then Marquardt hunches over and is in trouble. haley takes over from there and pounds him until they both go down. Win Haley

Rechlicz vs Fletcher
Haley vs Marquardt
Sorry about the little jumps in the video. There was obviously a problem with the transition, but you get the point.

Haley was probably the most impressive MW in the A last year. Another win for him. Recker didnt look too great but Im just happy about seeing him in the Isles colors.

"It's huge when guys are sticking up for each other," Rechlicz said. "It's more of a team bonding thing. I think it's great, and that's the style we've got to play. Guys come together, and it's like your family out there ... That's what it's all about. If you mess with one of our guys, you're going to mess with five of them. That's just the way it's going to go." |

Thanks for the video. I saw some of Reichelz fights last year and was very impressed but he did not look very good in this fight. Don't know how good Flethcher is but if that would have been Colton Orr on the other end it would have been lights out. It looked like a few of those early shots by Fletcher landed and Reichelz did a bad job of tying up his right and regain himself. It's early so we'll see more.
