I already like John Scott...but can somebody of the Wild fans give some insight on him?
He is listed as a d-man but he squared of as a winger with Parros, does he play defense in Minnesota? Is he just a fighter for the Wild or do they plan him to be a physical d-man? How good is he as an overall player?

John Scott is a fairly new comer still and is playing forward in Boogaard's absence. He is a defensive defenseman who fights, but doesn't like to do it. This offseason, he has been working with Boogaard to improve his fighting. I know he has said this year he will do anything it takes to stay up with the big club, which includes fighting when needed. He is a good substitute for now, but I don't think he is the answer the wild is looking for. Until John Scott gets in a few more fights this year, I still consider "Sheriff" Shane Hnidy as Boogaard's backup.

John Scott vs George Parros 10/06/09
These two big enforcers faced off with one another in last night game between the Wild and the Ducks. Parros is a big enforcer standing at 6'5'' and weighing around 16 and a half stone, but he is still smaller than Scott who stands at 6'8'' and weighs in at around 18 and a quarter stone. Parros has been the Ducks enforcer for the last 3 seasons and this will be his 5th season overall in the NHL. He's a win some, lose some heavyweight fighter but on his day he has been able to beat some real big name guys. Guys like Brian McGrattan, Eric Godard, Jody Shelley and Derek Boogaard who are all top quality fighters have lost to Parros in the past.... Parros style of fighting in a lot of fights is to hold guys out with the left arm while throwing straight right crosses. Parros also has balance issues and falls down prematurely in quite a few fights. Scott made it to the NHL at the end of last season and has looked like a decent enough heavyweight fighter so far. He's yet to lose a fight in his short NHL career and while in the minors he fought guys like Mitch Fritz, D.J King and Jon Mirasty and more than held his own. Scott has also beaten guys you would expect a decent heavyweight to beat like Andre Deveaux, Eric Neilson, Hans Benson, Daniel Bois and Jared Boll.... Scott uses his massive reach well in fights holding guys out with the left arm and throwing the long powerful right hands. It's also starting to look like he may have so proper power in his right hand after dropping a few guys already this year with big rights. Scott could be a guy to look out for this season, and Derek Boogaard could possible lose his place to this guy as the Wilds main enforcer in the future. Here's my fight review Quote:

I definitely wasn't expecting this fight to go this way. Scott landed a real nice punch to drop Parros and pick up the win.
Derek who? Scott did a nice impression of a pre-injured Boogaard by highlight-reeling his opponent.

Not often Stache looks small, but Scott dwarfed him. After the initial left that stuns Parros it is all Scott for the eventual KD win. Stache never even got going....

That was a big win for Big John Scott! The Stache needs to man-up after that one. Mustachioed men everywhere are hanging their heads in shame today!
