Good call on Downie, Isles4Life. No doubt Konopka would have attempted to seatbelt him to death if he were still around.

How great to see what this team can do when it decides to pay hockey, eh?

Montoya looked solid between the pipes. Still crying my eyes out over DP's unfortunate face mask accident. I hope Montoya, backed up by Nabby, will be able to pick up the slack while he's laid up. They've sure got a big crease to fill in his absence. (In case nobody noticed, that was me being sarcastic right there).

Way to, uhhhmmmm, "take one for the team," DP!

I didn't say PAP is the great one,. but he had a good game tonight. Martin did say something to Hedman as they were skating off the ice. Hopefully Gillies is back for the rag's game.

Montoya is on fire. 4 goals against in 3 games.

Isles4Life beat me to the punch. As much as I was enjoying last night's game, I couldn't help but notice that there was at least 2 or 3 times when the Lightning went out of their way to put a little extra body on JT, and not just in that one scrum. I loved that JT didn't back down, but he should never be 1 on 3, and he certainly shouldn't need to be throwing punches, even if the gloves were on. Martin looks great, but someone needs to ride shotgun with him...he cannot be a HW deterrent. Pandolfo has looked good on the PK, and if we keep him for that, so be it. But I have seen all 3 games and Rolston is crap. Either Gillies or Haley need to be with Martin and be in that spot.

Agreed, BNOU.

...And you don't need three superstars on a line for it to become a scoring machine; its players just have to work well together. Parenteau is not a flashy superstar, but he is the line's puck carrier/deliverer, and when he is on, he is effective in that capacity.

I like the chemistry here.

I don't foresee Parenteau becoming our forum's next "John Sim," at least I hope not. You guys can be pretty tough on work-in-progress, journeyman forwards.

I thought I heard something about JT saying something about PAP not being on his wing in camp and it sounded like he missed him. I never saw the actual quote, but I read some posters talking about it.

I drove all the way home from college and spent a pretty good coin on tickets to go to today's game. I'll be really disappointed if Gillies doesn't play. It was horse**** that the Lightning of all teams was able to get away with roughing up JT. They should be pro-active, don't wait until someone gets hurt before you actually use an enforcer regularly.

Capuano sure has me uncomfortable with his lineup changes before the puck drops tonight.

I know Nabokov needed to start a game at some point, but is it really a great idea for his first NHL regular season start in forever to be in such an emotional game against the Rangers, especially with Montoya having played so well to start the year? Nabokov could earn some forgiveness from Islander fans with a good performance tonight, but he could also become an even bigger goat with a weak showing.

And I'm all for getting Trevor Gillies in the lineup. And I acknowledge that Blake Comeau has been garbage through 3 games, but the guy is always at his best against the Rangers. If there were a game that could have gotten Comeau going, I though it would be tonight. I would have found a different guy to sit...

I was glad they scratched Comeau, sometimes the guy needs a wake up call since it appeared he hasn't shown up for the season yet.

That was one fun game to be at. The top line was very, very impressive and Nabokov made some huge saves (even though he let in that softie wrap around). With Gillies in, there was no liberties taken. It sucked that the refs had to make it a special teams game though, they pretty much eliminated all chances of rough stuff happening. There had to have been about 50 people thrown out between section 329 and 330.

The best part for me was when JT got the hat trick, my girlfriend jumped up and gravity decided to take her beer all over the Ranger fans sitting next to us. It was hysterical.

Also, isn't it time to give up on Mottau? The guy fuking stinks.

45,

Howie estimated it was 50/50 Rags-Isles fans. Do you agree? the chants on tv didn't sem as lopsided as normal to my ears.

It was probably 50/50. My friend thought it was 60/40 Isles fans but it was close either way.

All the Ranger fans were the greasy Staten Island type, never seen so much hair gel in the Coliseum.

I don't really think that Prust goal was Nabokov's fault, it was just bad luck since it went in off of Nielsen. Overall I'd say Nabokov had a strong start to his Islanders' tenure.

Hell of a big win last night to close the homestand with a win over the Rangers. While scratching Comeau and starting Nabokov had me nervous, Capuano clearly knew what he was doing as the team came through with a big win. Tavares has been playing on another planet the past 2 games, hopefully he can keep that rolling with the team hitting the road.

I agree. I hate to bag on my fellow rangers fans, but the ranger fans in my section were some of the biggest assholes ive ever had to endure at a game. Trashy mother fukcers.

I will also say this, Moulson, JT, and Grabner are better than any Rangers forward not named Marian Gaborik.

Couldn't agree more. What a worthless traffic cone. Could Gaborik have felt any more welcome as Mottau provided him a personal police escort to Nabby's crease? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's always been my understanding that blueliners shouldn't spin around like human pinwheels as opposing forwards blow by them on breakaways.
