Well I'm glad we got Michael Haley under contract, that was new to me.
We all agree on that Tavares is the natural choice, but I think our second pick is just as interesting. What would it take to move our 26th into the top 12 and land a guy like Zach Kassian? I've never seen him play, but I like his numbers a lot. |

Wow. Imagine this team with Rechlicz, Jackman and Haley on it. And on the flip end we have Tavares, Okposo, Bailey, and Streit... This team could be really fun to watch.

Good start to break in the new thread.
I'm really happy that Haley signed the 2-way, but I highly doubt we'll see him even come close to making the team out of training camp. I'd just like to see him get the call when injuries inevitably strike during the course of the season. I'm also really glad Pock is out of the picture. My god that guy was a waste on the blueline. We're less than a month away from an absolutely huge draft for this organization. With all of the political bullsh*t going on off the ice surrounding the lighthouse and a possible relocation, we really need a positive moment to build on. I believe that most of us are in agreement Tavares is the way to go, and there is the intriguing possibility of moving up to get a mid-round pick using San Jose's first and one of our second rounders. If not, we still have a lot of picks in the early portion of this draft to hopefully draft some good guys.

What pisses me off more is that if Kerry Gwydir would have waited 1 more week we could have gotten Kyle Quincey instead of Pock. When I asked him about it, he played up Pock like he was the second coming. We all know that was a mistake. Quincey would have fit well on our team.

With the previous thread closing, I just wanted to respond about a few of the posts. I agree that Sillinger, and probably Hillbert are gone. Hopefully they find some way to get rid of Sim also as he is a waste of space. I still think they may sign only one FA (possibly Komisarek if the price isnt too high), and then fill the other spots with guys like, Jackman, Wrecker, Joensuu, Haley, etc. They do have some talent at BP and I really would like to see these guys get a shot with Tavares, Okposo, Bailey, Comeau, and the rest of the team that finished up the season.

I really like Joensuu's upside, but I also don't want them to rush the guy. I think he should and will play the majority of the coming season for Bridgeport. This past year was only his first full season in North America, so I think they should give him some time to develop his game a little further.
While I do see a free agent push for Komisarek as a good possibility (although I really hope they don't go for his current asking price), I don't see the Islanders signing any other major free agents, but I'm sure that as always 1 or 2 guys will get inked to help fill in the lines on offense. But like everyone else I'm really hoping Rechlicz gets a good chance to make the team and doesn't have a potential roster spot evaporate.

Once JJ learns how to use his size, he could be real good at the NHL level.

That's just the way it's going to go." |
