last nights game was not a good indicator for the temperature of the team right now. the coach just got fired, and we played the Stanley Cup champs! i think the outcome was what should've been expected given the teams recent play and firing of Murray.
that said, we had 41 shots on goal which is not terrible, but it just wasn't meant to be. too many turn overs and just sloppy play in general in the neutral and defensive zones to expect to win. i honestly think trades will be made. if i'm Dean i'm looking at Brown and Scuderi. Scuds has stuck out with questionable plays in my eyes. Brown is playing like a shell of himself. at the very least i would strip him of the 'C'. this is just my view on it.

The Kings will make the playoffs. It'll be ugly, but they're gonna be that hot team going in that "nobody wants to play". Terry Murray gone isn't an instant fix, and with the delay on a "permanent" head coach will only make momentum they gather under Stevens have another hiccup... but it'll be all good in the end.
I really worry about the player leadership on the team. The last two years the only character guys with leadership potential they had were Zus and Simmonds and yeah... But Richards can be that guy. Kopitar can get pissed and be that guy. Mitchell can be that guy. Etc. The only flaw they have is nobody being that guy... YET. But somebody will (but it won't be Brown...) The dark days have past and a chimp behind the bench would still have the benefit of not being Terry Murray. Mark my words gentlemen! By season's end this will be a scary team to any opposition. ...Or not |

I actually am getting that giddy vibe that the Kings just might kickstart good with Sutter right off the bat. Little run or something. My head is still telling me there will be a 10gm hiccup, and mid season is where things ignite, but my heart... My heart, says a HUGE three games coming up and big wins in all. Motivation of the new coach. Motivation of divisional games. If they break that 2goal "barrier" against the Ducks tomorrow. BOOM! |

the team as a whole has been playing very un-emotional, non-passionate hockey. i think it starts at the top, and i don't think Brown is the right captain for this team. he rarely does anything to try to spark his team when they're playing like sh!t, which this season has been quite often. i know Dean and Sutter don't have immediate plans on personnel changes, but my money would be on Brown either being stripped of the C or shipped off. Cliffy and Westy have to play more aggressive and physical. but even with that, we still don't have enough team toughness. i'm starting to really miss Simmonds on this squad.

Yeah, I never thought of Brown as a good captain for some time now. The C went on him and he stopped playing like he did before the C to earn that C.
I doubt they change captains though, no need for another distraction. Definitely trade material though. But he's an asset to the franchise outside of the rink with all his charity and public relations. It'll be interesting. We got Brown if someone needs a forward to replace the one we steal, D-men if they need D-men and a goalie who's rep has taken a hit but should still have some value. And of course miss Simmonds. Still my favorite player. Said he was gonna get 30 goals and 10 fights when he got traded... on pace! Something about being on the Kings likes to suffocate player's offenses. |

i think your going to see a new Kings team. I think Clifford and Westgarth were held back a bit under TM. Look at Clifford's last fight, there was the hate and anger that we have seen from him before.
TM would never let Westgarth go after a non fighter to send a message. Sutter on the other hand...... Greene seems really fu(king excited, almost like he wasn't able to play his game under TM. I think under Sutter, if you don't come to play rough hockey, you will be in the press box. I could see Clune or Nolan getting called up. You can say bye bye to Stoll, Lewis, AM, Hunter, Lokti (AHL for him), maybe even Richardson (if he doesn't get back to his old ways). Brown will have to go back to his big hitting days for sure, or he could find his as$ out the door too. I remember few years ago, when Ivanans was still on the team... We went into Cal (sutter was the Coach) and the Flames hit everything insight. I thought their team was going to kill Brown, Kopi, didn't matter. I think Ivanans had to jump a player during that game. That's the kind of coach we are getting. We should all be happy and hopefully the players buy into the rough style Sutter likes to play. As for Simmer.... I miss that guy a bunch. If only the Flyers would have taken Lewis, Richardson, Lokti, instead of Simmer and Schenn. Can you guys imagine what type of player Simmer would be under Sutter? TM has ruined players, hopefully this team can pull together and find their sacks.

i agree, i think TM took the heart and emotion straight out from some of these players. i really, really hope Sutter lights a fire in this team again. i also expect Richards to get a boost from the new coach.

Was that Dustin Brown I used to know out there tonight?
Hot damn. I remember he had that interview with Mayors Manor about why his hit numbers have slid and he talked about how much he has to think about out there in Murray's system. Just let him play! I could've gone for more than 2goals but that was one of the most exciting game they've played in 2yrs. They earned it. Still feelin' giddy! |

Only one game, but I love Sutter already. WOW does he let them play or what.
Nick mentioned brown, fu(k was he all over the place. Couple of things I liked from Sutter.. Lets the 4th line stay on the ice after scrum and allows Westgarth to lineup at the center position so Frazer can handle his buisness - +1 Lewis gets hit low and makes it back to the bench, right away sends Westgath over the boards to go after Bullsh!tmay - +2 Lewis isn't strong along the boards and gets ran over, leading to the tying goal for the Ducks. Sutter turns red and goes nuts. The players listen, don't fold, and kings still get the 2 points. - +10000000000000000
