Well done 19! I almost started the thread then thought just my text wasn't worthy enough so requested it in the other thread because i knew you'd add all the good vids and pics! Haha.
PS: Also like I mentioned in the 2010-2011 thread: I really think Joel Ward is worth looking at for depth! |

Yeah, the whole Joel Ward idea just randomly popped into my head before the MIKE Richards thing ever went down. But once that happened and the Kings got stacked down the center the RW spots filled themselves out for the most part. So that idea fizzled. Would've been a good depth guy.
Still think they'll need a depth guy, but a LW. But man oh man is this BRAD Richards wait killing me. It's gonna be pretty insane if they have a top 6 like that... My brain won't allow me to believe they can actually pull it off, but I do got the giddyness going too. If they don't land the big fish they'll need to still fill out the top 6 but lets just sit on that until tomorrow. Been saying it for a few years now and it keeps becoming more and more true every time; "exciting time to be a Kings fan". |

Ward is gone.
If Brad Richards follows the stipulations of what he was looking for in his next team: strong ownership, close to winning the cup and a team that is going to retain it's core for the future, well that equates the Kings. |

yes sir, the team will look very different this coming year. our entire 3rd line, for most of the season, is gone. i think the 3rd line will be Cliffy-Stoll-Richardson. not bad at all and i think it will be more productive with Stoll at the helm, but it will be weird not having Simmer or Zeus in the line-up. i do think the team will be better, it can't not be better with the addition of Mike Richards and Simon Gagne. the offense should improve 5-5 and the PP should be much better with Richards and Kopi out there.
i'm not comfortable with the talk of Doughty for Stamkos. makes me nervous that multiple sources keep talking about this. yes Stamkos is one of the best scorers in the league, but Dean worked so hard to build this team from the back end, which includes Doughty, that trading him just wouldn't seem right. no doubt we can use a guy like Stamkos, any team could, but to break-up the defense like that is a bit nerve wrecking.

On NHL.com they stated that Lombardi told them it will be awhile before they sign DD, and DD agents said nothing is on the table yet either. Smells like a possible hold-out to me. Hopefully I'm totally off-base here and Kings management is just really busy with other stuff.

as has been the trend in recent years, most free agents this off season were over paid. this, i think, has more than likely made DD and his agent up their asking price. i hope we don't cave in, but i also hope we sign him. i really hate agents.

According to "The Mayor" (Kings blogger), he talked to Dustin Penner at the development camp today and Penner said he's lost 10lbs so far.
Also of note with the kids: Toffoli is lighting it up and showed up in great shape. He just may be the one that cracks the lineup. |

Yeah, I saw that on LA Kings Insider. He has been at the Kings training facility at 7:30 am working out with strength and conditioning coaches. A very good sign, IMO. Hearing stuff like that forces me check the calendar on my computer, and count the days to the start of the season.

Nice thread. The Kings have a lot of tough potential this year with rookie Kyle Clifford and heavyweight Kevin Westgarth taking care of the brawling.

Would you be ok with this?
I read there is a good chance the Kings will try Richardson on the right side of Clifford and Stoll. They could also move lewis into that position and have Richie and him swap the 4th line center role. That leaves left wing on the 4th line open (If TM continues to carry Westie on the RW). The name that came up was Clune again. He needs to be resigned, but all things point to that happening. Would you be ok with a starting forward lineup of.... Penner-Kopi-Williams Gagne-Richards-Brown Clifford-Stoll-Richardson Clune-Lewis-Westgarth Training camp can change anything and you still have Parse (not sure where he fits in). Thoughts? Also looks like the Kings really want to wait and see what Weber gets before they get serious with Doughty.

While I'd be fine with that lineup and more than happy to see Clune get a shot if he deserves it... I just don't see how Parse ISN'T part of the starting lineup when the season kicks off. He's held in high regard by management/coaches and should be fully healthy. I predicted this in the project your teams lines thread and think it'll be how the season at least starts:
Dustin Penner - Anze Kopitar - Justin Williams Simon Gagne - Mike Richards - Dustin Brown Kyle Clifford - Jarret Stoll - Scott Parse Brad Richardson - Trevor Lewis - Kevin Westgarth Colin Fraser Andrei Loktionov Tyler Toffoli Drew Doughty - Rob Scuderi Jack Johnson - Willie Mitchell Matt Greene - Alec Martinez Davis Drewiskie Jonathon Quick Jonathon Bernier Maybe Clune instead of Toffoli/Lokti? Dunno! I just want it to be October already!!! |
