Official 2011-2012 Florida Panthers Team Thread

A new season and a new day. I've gone to a few preseason games and the team is looking pretty good. The only concern I am really having is with Theodore. Now with Clemmensen out for a month, he's really going to have to step up so the team doesnt get stuck digging out of a hole for the rest of the season.

All in all, I'm really excited to see how the Cats look come regular season. Also, the Bank Atlantic Center is looking good with its new red theme.

What happened to Clemmenson? If he is going to be out for a month, then who will be the backup for Theodore? I hope it will be Markstrom.

It is Markstrom. They released the info last week I think.

The Panthers shutout the Islanders tonight. I think it was bull**** for Upshall to get ejected because his jersey was loose.

How do they know it wasn't on purporse?

It's nice seeing the Cats start off like that. I didnt watch the game, but i heard the team looked pretty good. Hopefully Theo and the Panthers can keep it up!

Also, on the Upshall thing, he said that it broke off from his pants, but the refs thought he never attached it.

Well the Panthers are looking really good so far. A few little things here and there, but all in all they are looking a lot better than last season. The PP is on fire and first in the league which is a welcomed change from last year.

The new acquisitions are making their mark and are really leading this team well. Rumor has it that Markstrom will start in net vs the Capitals tonight. Let's shut them down and keep on rolling!

With Booth traded to Vancouver, it makes me wonder is Tallon slashing the budget to get ready to sign more free agents next summer.

It will really take some time to see what exactly materializes from this trade. Obviously this makes some room for the young prospects looking to crack the lineup and does offer space for free agents over the offseason.

As of right now, however, I think there are a lot of different perspectives to look at. Booth has not been the same since the concussion and that is clear. He really slacked defensively last season and didn't seem to be improving this year. The team was not producing throughout this past week and Tallon wanted to send a message, which I like.

Will Sturm return to being a 20 goal scorer? Can Samuelsson notch 30 goals this year? Those are really the questions of this trade, along with how Booth will react to his change of scenery in Vancouver.

All in all, I think Samuelsson and Sturm will be gone next summer unless they regain their scoring touches, which is a possibility. The big thing is that this opens more doors for prospects and moves this summer. We dumped Reinprecht's salary, along with Booth's paycheck, which enters into a No Trade Clause next season if my memory serves me correctly. We will just have to see how this season plays out.

I am pleased the way Markstrom has performed in the last two games. I know Theodore is still the starting goalie, but what is going to happen to Markstrom when Clemmensen returns?

Markstrom has been playing great. Clemmensen may be sent down to San Antonio for a conditioning stint, but he can only be down there for 2 weeks.

They lost three shootouts in a row. They have new goalies and they still can't win shootouts.

The Tampa Bay game was terrible, but they picked it up against Toronto last night, which was great to see. Theodore played very well last night.

It will be interesting to see if Clemmensen gets dealt soon.

Watched the last 10 minutes of the game against the Pens. Wild game. The Panthers are for real - as I believed at the beginning of the season.
