Not one mention of the Flyers with Hartnell, Simmonds, Rinaldo, Sestito, and Shelley some nights? We need more Flyers fans in this thread.

J/K. But not really because MacDermind fighting NHL heavies on the regular probably isn't in his best interest.
Don't think MacDermid fared too badly in his one NHL fight last year with Rupp. In his 5 games, he hit everything in sight, which counts in the "toughest team in the league" question.

If Rinaldo, Sestito, and Shelley all play together in even 1 game this season I will be so shocked I might do a backflip off my house

Flyers got a pretty tough team, and I do think their might be a bit of payback due on Sestitos questioned hit on Horton last season.

Right after they deal with Randy Jones and Matt Hunwic, I'm sure Sestito is next....Lol.

Scott is the key to the Sabres having any real toughness at all.

It depends on:

1) if he plays more than a few games against the Bruins

2) If he actually lives up to his hype.

If neither of those come true.... they will be left with injury prone MW Cody McCormick and pest Steve Ott, which would put them somewhere in the lower to bottom end IMO.

....That hurts. Remember though that's Western New York's own.

Anyways, even if Macdermid is an average fighter he would replacing Bourque or Caron so that's a toughness upgrade by default.

What are the Flyers 4 lines looking like? It'd be nice (albeit a pipe dream) if Shelley,Sestito, and Rinaldo could all make the lineup. Here's hoping for some injuries.

best chance to see rinaldo, sestito and shelley would be injuries. at this point i think rinaldo def plays, sestito plays a decent amount and shelley plays when sestito is out. simmonds will probably be the 2nd best fighter most nights, but he's also gonna be relied on to score so he might have cuffs on from time to time. id like to see them add a hammer on the back end that can drop the gloves.

Where'd you hear THAT BS?

Not the point. The question wasn't an "upgrade", it was MacDermid taking some "responsibility" off Thornton. He can handle his light work, that's about it.

Is it wrong to hope for injuries? I agree though. Enough injuries and the types of players we like may see more ice time. The shortened season and camp may make that wish come true.

If Shelley's not in I would say Simmonds will be the best fighter most nights. Who in your opinion is better?

Manning is the best best for that I imagine? Or will Walker play a couple games before going down again?

He can fight LHW's, like Rupp last year. As Broons alluded too he is also physical when not fighting, so while he won't be taking on the very few legit HW's...he helps nonetheless.

It's only okay to root for injuries if it's a soft Euro.

I don't think Buffalo has much for depth? I'd have to check, but he may play anyways.

Not to mention there are still some fighters (not very good) but Bradley, Vandermeer, ect. are still out there. Hopefully they get signed next week.

From what I heard Walker's career is pretty much done due to recurring lower body injuries. He will be on LTIR, which is a shame because he is exactly the type of 'hammer' that I would want the Flyers to have back there.

If Bourdon is healthy he would probably be more active than Manning would be, but they are both middleweights...and Bourdon has concussion issues so I'm not expecting much fighting if he does play. I don't know if Eddy will make the team or if he's even signed to the Flyers, and Lauridsen seems like a big LHW who likes to mix it up, but he won't be on the Flyers anytime soon.

What! No mention of the toughest team in the league?! The AVS!?!

All kidding aside, Islanders, Wild, Bruins and Rangers are all tough as **** this year.

I'd imagine at least a few of those guys get signed.
