Never mind. It's obvious you're not getting the point or willing to listen to another point of view.

Please continue...

There is a dfference in dropping your gloves once in three years, and doing it 4-7 times a year like Dubinsky and Horton.

The reality of this thread discussion makes me hate the Gary Bettman era even more than I already do.

Please nobody include Ference, Stafford, Phanuef, Komi, Campbell in these conversations anymore.

They may not be great fighters, but they bring an element of physical play that can be intimidating for their opponents. Keep their heads up and in check.

Being tough is not all about fighting. And I believe Komi and Phaneuf bring those other elements. Although Phaneuf actually is a decent fighter. He may not be elite, but he could hold his own within his weight class.

Toronto IMO is the toughest team in the NHL right now.

Agreed. I'm a leafs fan and Phanuef and Komi are NOT tough.

With that said, I know what cookie monster is getting at.

Wait....Thornton loses a fight to Scott and all the sudden Buffalo is a tougher team than Boston? When you compare these two teams' overall depth of toughness and physicality, its extremely one-sided. Even without Thornton in the lineup. Unless you think Buffalo can win a war of attrition with guys like Ott and Kaleta lining up against Macdermid, McQuaid, Lucic, Boychuck, and Chara. Ouch.

Thornton got concussed. nobody did anything. macdermid peed his pants when scott went out in the last 12 seconds or whatever it was. then some boston media and players decided to bitch about the time out. thats something the whiny sabres would do, not the bruins.
listing what you percieve to be the depth (boychuk? really?) of the bruins despite most of those guys having 1 or zero fights kind of makes my point for me. the bruins are the toughest on paper, but actions speak louder than words. over the last couplke of years, their actions spoke loud and clear. this season,it's not happening,at least not yet.your location may have something to do with your defensive posture.if the bruins don't make some noise tonight in buffalo, then they definitely have been toppled from their pedestal.

depends on the matchups.the bruins don't win them all for sure.and why use some hypothetical line brawl?why not use games that have actually taken place?

I still think it's Boston. Every single player (aside from Bourque I think) has at least one fighting major. Of course not all their players are tough, but that fact speaks volumes. Toronto has a very nice Big 4 with Orr, Brown, Fraser, and McLaren, but outside of them, what do they have? Phaneuf won't fight anymore, Komisarek doesn't play, and MacArthur, although game, is not one to stir the pot or go looking for a fight.

you must be talking about 1 fighting major in their career, because only thornton, lucic, macdermid, mcquaid and campbell do this season. also just having a fighting major doesn't make you tough it makes you somewhat willing at best. if your top 4 beat up their top 4 chances are the 1 fm types aren't going to do **** anyway.
