They don't play in the east though, so it doesn't make much sense being one of two teams playing a true enforcer. Other than Gratts, there really is nobody in the west with a heavyweight. Sadly, in the west, the Kings are as tough if not tougher than the majority of the teams. During the kings televised practice Dean talked about the trade of Westy and he legit seemed disappointed. Good thing center ice is free this year, I'll be watching a lot of eastern conference games.

I think they will probably be near the leaders in the west with hits. Brown is always top 2-3 in the league, and Greene was one of the top hitters for Dmen last year. Throw in Nolan who Nolan, stewart, Richards and Clifford who can all throw the body pretty damn well and there you go. But like you said, fighting, well fighting is a different story.

The Kings are soft, no matter how anyone justifies it.
The fact that this part of the conversation started by comparing the Kings and Bruins toughness is hilarious. The Kings are more on the Vancouver Canucks end of things.

And that is just a little bit insulting, I'll take Clifford, Nolan, and maybe Stewart(if he plays like he said he was going to), over who Weise and and the guy who got dropped by kostopoulos(Bieksa), and the guy who ran from Clifford last year(Ballard)? the only one who would be able to do much is Vandy, and I don't see him playing much in the NHL. Compared to the east yeah the Kings are a pretty weak team, but the west is a completely different story.

Would have been relevant after the last lockout.

I hate when people classify toughest team, by running a list of players that fight...does anyone watch how certain teams play anymore? Bruins/Flyers/Rangers will be my examples...neither team takes anyone's **** and each player on those teams has each others backs. Those are tough teams... Dare I go a step further and just state that those are THE ONLY tough teams?

How about Randy Jones, Matt Hunwick, Derek Engelland, Jody Shelly, Tom Sestito and Aaron Rome? They did take care of that heavyweight Matt Cooke, but what about all the other concussions that went unpunished? They beat up the Sutherbys and Burrushes of the world, but Jody Shelly didn't even get a harsh word when he almost killed Adam McQuaid. To quote my good friend Big Jack...."very telling".

No Bruin went near Shelly after he hit McQuaid. He's has fought Thornton a few times (not as revenge, but as a typical "staged fight") and fought Chara after Shelly started with him off a face off. What about Jones, Hunwick and Engelland?...I'll give the Bruins a pass on Rome, but history shows that the Bruins would've just "let the league handle it“ anyways. Your revisionist history is very telling... Fun fact...Milan "killer" Lucic was on the ice for the Cooke on Savard hit, the Sestito on Horton hit, the Engelland on Savard hit and the Rome on Horton hit and did NOTHING each time. But if Ryan Miller or Tim Wallace gets out of line, LOOCH well take care of business.

However, I thought Sestito either left the game after he hit Horton or barely played after the fact...I'd still like to see retribution but the hit didn't look that bad to me honestly. I can't give you an explanation on Jones and Hunwick, they didn't give a **** about Savard? They could have easily despised of them but chose not too. Jones hit on Bergeron didn't look that bad to me...seemed like a freak accident. Anyways, I can't stand another drawn out argument in this thread...so I'm not going to bother. Plus typing on a phone can get tedious.
