End of the season top 10 list for '07-'08:
1.) Georges Laraque 2.) Donald Brashear 3.) Derek Boogaard 4.) Colton Orr 5.) D.J. King 6.) Brian McGrattan 7.) Eric Godard 8.) Wade Belak 9.) George Parros 10.) Shawn Thornton It's really only that #10 spot that is up for grabs. Laraque and Brashear are set in stone as numbers one and two - but after that, the order you put the rest of the fighters in is really a toss-up. However - Boogaard, Orr, King, McGrattan, Godard, Belak, and Parros deserve to be there - but the order is definitely debatable. And as somebody else said, nobody really deserves that #10 spot. Thornton had a pretty good year and was involved in a lot of exciting bouts, so I gave it to him. The other options weren't very good. Ivanans put up a weak fight card; Peters was not good; Cote is getting better but isn't a top 10 fighter yet; Shelley is the most inconsistent fighter in the league; Roy had far too many draws and hardly won any fights; Parker was quiet because he doesn't get enough playing time; and I didn't see enough of Downey or Hordichuk to put them in, and Thornton is just a better fighter than them, IMO. Overall, it probably was a rather weak year for the heavyweights. Some were exciting as usual, but others were disappointing. Boogaard was out for most of the year, so he wasn't as dominant - and that really hurt the league. A dominant Boogaard makes everything look a lot better, and it shows how much he adds to the heavyweight class. But, I still think Boogy deserves his spot at #3. He's the king of the West, and this year didn't change it.

1. Donald Brashear - His only loss was a crap fight against McGrattan. Otherwise, He beat Laraque, Cote(2X), Orr, Neil, W. Brookbank, S. Brookbank, and Thornton (2X). Good card and only one slight loss.
2. George Laraque - His only loss was a contraversial one to Brashear. He had W's against Cote(2X), Barch, Godard, McGrattan, and W. Brookbank. Both Laraque and Brashear have good fight cards and it was close, but I had to let the head-to-head matchup decide who was No. 1. 3. Colton Orr - Orr had the most W's among top heavyweights this season. He suffered only 4 losses: Simon, McGratts, Belak, and Brashear. Those are top notch HW's right there. He defeated Cote(2X), Parros, Peters, Boulerice(2X) including a TKO, among others. His fight card is filled with the best in the game right now. This is arguably his best season as a fighter. 4. D.J. King - King had a great year with W's over Hordichuk, Parros(2X), Shelley, Godard, Stortini, etc. He only lost twice by my count and that was to Boogey and Shelley. Definitely a surprise season by this young fighter. 5. Derek Boogaard - Boogaard disappeared for a while but came back in time to make the cut. He finished 7-2-2 this year and had wins over Koci, May, King, Shelley, and Godard. His long dry spell killed him this year because his record is respectable and he lost to only Koci and Parros. 6. Wade Belak - Belak is another fighter who I left off the list for a while because of his inactivity this year. He seemed to put together a few fights at the end to make the cut. He defeated Koci, Boulton(2X), Orr, and Parros. As far as I know he didn't lose this year. I had him at 5-0-3 this year. Not bad at all. An undefeated season, but only 8 fights? Because of his inactivity he is not as high as he should be. 7. Brian McGrattan - Another fighter who went through long periods of inactivity. He finished a respectable 5-2-2 with wins over Orr, Thornton, Brash, Peters, and M. Grenier. He lost to Laraque and Cote. Two losses in a season would be great but against only 5 wins? and 2 draws? 9 fights for the year seems a bit low, but this rash spread throughout the HW division this year. 8. Darcy Hordichuk - Did everyone forget about this guy? He did fight this year. He went 8-3-2 and had a good card as well. He bested Parros, Shelley, Stortini(3X), Boll, B. Winchester, and Carcillo. He lost to Boll, King, and W. Brookbank. Where's the love? 9. Raitis Ivanans - 7-0-6 isn't bad at all, but his wins are against mostly fringe HW's and MW's and he had a lot of draws. His only notable win was against Shelley, who had a disappointing season. 10. George Parros - At 7-10-6 Parros took a hit this years in the polls. His fight card is the most impressive in the league. I mean this guy fought just about every major HW this season. The problem is his won-loss record. He beat everyone, but lost to everyone as well. He defeated Boogey, Fedoruk, Koci, Shelley, TKO'd Cote, and Godard. He lost to King(2X), Orr, Belak, Hordichuk, Downey, etc. Based on his Fight card and the fact that he fought major HW's, he cracks the top 10. Honorable Mention - Riley Cote, Eric Godard, Chris Simon, and Shawn Thornton. Cote fought everyone this year and his fights were action-packed. Godard had 7 wins but failed against big guns like BGL, King, Boogey, and Parker(2X). Simon's suspension killed him this year. That inactivity killed a promising season. In 7 fights he was 5-1-1. Had he not been suspended he probably would've made a run this season. Thornton was another exciting fighter who deserves an HM for his action-packed bouts this year. |

1. Laraque -He's got strength, and he uses his bodyweight as and advatage to win his fights. The only reason i put BGL infront of Boogaard is because i think he has much more experience.
2. Boogaard -He is hard to reach (obviously) because of his height. He also has the power to ko other enforcers easily. Not a great season for him due to his injury, but hopefully some more action from the Boogeyman next season with some new moves he will be learning over the upcoming Summer! 3. Cote -He has so much heart when it comes to fighting. He is not afraid of anyone. He is powerful and quick. Many fights this season, with them all being very entertaining ones! 4. Boll -The number of fights he has had this season tells it all really! The leader in PIMs. He can take a punch as well as give a bloody hard one back. 5. Thornton -Some great fights this season! 6. Brashear -is big and strong, but he doesnt fight that often. But when he does its worth the wait. 7. Godard -Carrying on from the scraps with Boogaard last season. 8. Mcgrattan -Extremely strong. Very hard to get down. The orr fight at the begining of the season was amazing! 9. D.J.King - Exellent fights! 10. Orr -Not many people can beat him! |

End of The Year Top 10
1. Georges Laraque 2. Donald Brashear 3. Colton Orr 4. Eric Godard 5. George Parros 6. D.J. King 7. Brian McGrattan 8. Derek Boogaard 9. Shawn Thornton 10. Riley Cote As usual the top two spots go to Georges Laraque and Donald Brashear, no change there. I put Colton Orr in the three spot because he has had an exceptional year, taken on and beaton numerous heavyweights and proven himself as an elite heavyweight. Eric Godard, George Parros, and D.J. King take the four, five, and six spot because of the amount they fought combined with the amount they won. Brian McGrattan and Derek Boogaard, have moved well down my list because of injuries making them inactive plus both had some dissapointing losses. Shawn Thornton and Riley Cote are my number nine and ten because both of them are two of the smaller heavyweights but show a lot of heart taking on top heavyweights. They also had one of the best scraps this year with eachother.
