My current list will be little different, with some obvious omissions. This isn't a popularity contest. And I am basing this on the last season.
1. Matt Johnson - I felt Moose was the Champ last year over all. 2. Donald Brashear - yes I hate him, but he does fight more than Laraque, who I have left off this list based on my disapointment in him. 3. Eric Cairns - The hardest right hand in hockey, I hope he is Champ soon, and knock off Brash, who is either Champ or the number 1 contender. Moose just was a little more impressive to me, I feel he'll drop down in my rankings. 4. Wade Belak - Not a fan of him, but he has shown he is a legit top 5 guy. 5. Chris Simon - I felt we more than saw flashes of the Simon of old. A great year, he has surged back into almost everyones top ten. 6. Francis Lessard - Not my homer pick. he's active, has all the tools. I simply feel he may get bloodied, but has one of the best chins for a fighter. I expect big things from Lessard. Piss on ye who disagree. 7. Darcy Hordichuk - a great year. he deserves it, he works hard, takes on the giants. Had a great year. 8. Chris Neil - not sure why he takes a lot of heat on here sometimes. He is a good fighter, wins often. I think the team Neil plays for like Boulerice hurts his chances in top ten's. But like I said, I call it like I see it. 9. Jesse Boulerice - This kid is a good one, would be more on everyones lists, if he wasn't playing for Carolina. 10. Krystoff Oliwa - based on work ethic, number of fights, he deserves a top ten. year in and year out Oliwa fights more than anyone. Kind of the lifetime achievement award for Oliwa. Take nothing away from last year however. He deserves it. *** Obvious omissions / notables: Jody Shelley - He's exciting, he bleeds, fights often, just didn't crack my 10 Georges Laraque - you have fallen off the map. Obvious reasons, he simply doesn't fight enough. Andrew Peters - I hope this fraud is exposed soon. He's on steroids, he is simply cheating. Thus, does not make my list. I hate even mentioning him. Todd Fedoruk - One of my favorites, but the Fridge is a bit of a mystery. he struggles sometimes IMO. He "should" be in the top 5, but he isn't. Stephen Peat - yikes what happened. I guess he was overrated ? Another guy who "should" be high up in rankings. Wade Brookbank - I feel he'll be in the top ten very soon, just not yet. Peter Worrell - The best of the "should" be top 3 maybe. Fallen off the map IMO. |

Here's My List:
1. Eric Cairns - Big, mean, destructive and fights often. Should be unanimous #1 in a few years. 2. Matt Johnson - I hate Brash & Laraque, so I'm gonna call MJ current #1. 3. Krzsystof Oliwa - Prob my fave fighter, if not for ability, for sheer willingness to drop em. 4. Chris Simon - I love this guy's fights, despite his often debated fight card. He fights good. 5. Wade Brookbank - He'll wreck quite a few fighters in coming years. If Cairns doesn't become #1, this guy will IMO. 6. Scott Parker - He's fun to watch, and very talented fighter too. 7. Reed Low - If only he could hit harder. 8. Andrew Peters - I'll hold off on the roid argument until it's proven. But he fought hard most of the time. Lay off the turtles, and he should be better. 9. Wade Belak - Hope he fights more often in the future. 10. Tie Domi - I'm sorry, but I can't not rate this guy. I apologise for the lack of Laraque & Brash, I know they are better fighters than most of the guys I did rate. But, I have a sincere dislike for these two and at the moment I can not bring myself to list them in my top 10. Laraque I dislike because, despite of his awesome strength and fighting ability he has publicly stated that he doesn't want to fight. He wants to score. I'm sorry buddy, but you'll never be a good goal scorer, unless you want to play in the minors. Stick to what got you into and has kept you employed in the NHL. You don't have enough respect/ability to become a Chris Simon or Tie Domi - who will continue to be consistently in line ups even despite either lack of fighting or their fight cards. Brashear - I don't like the way he fights or plays the game. He's just someone, even when I try to like, I can't. And he plays for the Flyers - I don't like them either. |

Todd Fedoruk ( Tough as nails..too bad Philly couldn"t sign him but he will definately take over Burnetts job in Anaheim. 10.
