1. Georges Laraque - Terribly unexciting, highly skilled fighter who by the rules is still technically the champ, unfortunately.
2. Brian McGrattan - Brashear is still terrified of him. Brian doesn't lose often, and is having trouble finding many takers this year. Wimps who have run away include Brashear and Orr, while Laraque bailed out on their first fight this year after taking a few good shots. 3. Donald Brashear - Exciting fight against Laraque catapults him upto the top 3, but his losing record against McGrattan keeps him at #3. 4. Eric Godard - Hasn't fought in a really long time, but has a great record against Boogaard. 5. George Parros - Always willing, always active. Parros has improved a lot since he got the call up. 6. D.J. King - Awesome fighter, top 3 material. Looking forward to seeing this kid in the future. Being stuck playing for a team that keeps him away from Laraque, McGrattan, Brashear hurts his ranking. 7. Derek Boogaard - Injury problems have led to a garbage season which sees him fall to #7. If he doesn't get healthy and active I would have a hard time justifying him for the top 10. 8. Wade Belak - Great fight against Koci, he has really erased his reputation of being scared to fight. Playing time has hurt his ranking. Good fight with Koci. 9. Colton Orr - Good fighter, great power, and usually a gamer. Didn't like seeing him run away from McGrattan, but he will have an opportunity to redeem himself pretty soon. 10. David Koci - Good fighter with a lot of heart, but has not beaten the right names to get any higher on the list. He is a potential top 5 in my opinion. Peters, despite playing a lot really sucks this year. Lucic has impressed me but I wouldn't take him against any of the top 10 quite yet. I'd like to add Parker and Roy somewhere but I just couldn't find room. They are on the verge of cracking the top 10, though. |

MY TOP TEN-Along with a Highlight/Lowlight for this year and last year.
1. Georges Laraque - We all hate his style, but he has yet to be dominated. Still the champ 2. Donald Brashear - Great showing against BGL, but rarely opens up- Big wins- against Orr, bad showing against McGratts. 3. Derek Boogaard- Still a monster, not tested much this year- Needs to dominate when he returns from the IR. Needs dominant showing against a top 5 to keep his spot 4. Brian McGrattan - Great showing against Brashear, dominates other top 20 HW. Future HW CHAMP 5. Colton Orr - Hangs with McGatts, great comeback in Belak instigator fight. Best Right Hand in the league. Needs much better showings against Brash and BGL. FUTURE CONTENDER FOR HW CHAMP 6. Eric Godard - Great scrap with Boogaard, needs to dominate smaller fighters more- Two bad losses to Orr in past years. 7. D.J. King - Potential HW champ of the future- Needs more big wins to establish himself as a top 5 8. Wade Belak - Still a top 10 tough guy- Cheap instigator against Orr, then loses the fight. At 6'5, he still dominates most of the league. 9. George Parros - Always game, never gets embarrassed. Future Contender for HW Champ. 10. Raitis Ivanans - Big and lanky, opens up and throws. Never gets dominated. Needs more big name wins to solidify a top 5 spot. Last edited by jd99gtNYR; 01-07-2008 at 07:28 PM. |

As I've said before, I do three top 10 lists per season - one at the beginning of the season, one mid-season, and one at the end.
So, I'm going to update my list a little with my mid-season top 10: 1.) Georges Laraque 2.) Donald Brashear 3.) Derek Boogaard 4.) Brian McGrattan 5.) D.J. King 6.) Eric Godard 7.) Wade Belak 8.) Colton Orr 9.) George Parros 10.) Andrew Peters -- S. Thornton and J. Shelley have dropped out of my top 10, and Belak and Parros have been inserted. Trending down: Peters, Orr, and Godard (just one spot) Trending up: King, McGrattan, Belak, and Parros Again, I'll have another one at the end of the season, and it could change a lot...
